IISc is not an engineering college. Their engineering education including PhD is not that good. in CSE candidates are awarded PhD with single conference paper.

IISc offers a 3 year Bachelor of Engineering course as well as 5 year integrated Master of Engineering course in all disciplines. The minimum qualification for joining the Bachelor of Engineering course is a BSc. The Bachelor of Engineering Course at IISc is more rigorous than most IITs. In fact MIT accepts credit transfers only from IISc in India, and not even IITs. If that does not say anything about the caliber of IISc, then nothing else will I guess.

Because IISc does not have 'Technology' or 'Engineering' in it's name.
governmenet college of engg and technology jammu is missing,,,how can you fgt a govt institute n place private institute considering the fact that those who cant get the cutoff to enter GCET are the ones opt for private colls,,,,NIt srinagar is not a worthy NIT any more,,,,hardly a batch gets out after 6 yrs as exams gets postponed one after another,,,
need of the hour is to close half of these colleges, as they r churning out mediocre engineers in lakhs n minting money. AICTE is the most corrupt body after MCI

Correct - Most of These colleges are minting money rather than increasing the intelluctuality of the students. Engg cannot be improved with just studying. Experimentation is required and 50% of the colleges do not have budgets for the labs. Better remove these colleges.
Rediff has done a good job by publishing a systematic survey. It is readers choice to accept it or not. This kind of artilcles help people to get proper awareness in selecting colleges.
I feel Institutions like SASTRA in TN should be rated as high as that of NIT, Rourkela and Tiruchirapalli for their transparency in selection process, high pedagogy, campus selection and opportunity available to students for higher studies. An institution par excellence indeed!

Let us rate SASTRA better than IIT Madras (Chennai)are you studying or teaching there? It is one of the worst colleges in India
Sastra is one of the worst college of engineering. What made you to think it is best? please menstion the reasons.
Why it is worst. 1. Its selection is one of the wors. no merit in selection. 2. Their faculty is one of the worst. Except bio technology. 3. It doesn't look like a university. with its very high intake it looks like a cow shed. etc.

Pal & Maniac,
If you say that SASTRA's buildings look like cowshed then most of the colleges are the same. Probably you have not gone and visited them
On the contrary, what do you know about faculty.Have you seen other college so called professors. SASTRA's faculty is far better than other top ranked colleges ( both government and private).
Importantly, SASTRA does not collect capitation fee or donation and still pay hefty salary to its staff whereas the so called top ranked private colleges loot money from parents and poor parents do not realise that they are paying for the worst. I can keep adding many features but I think this is enough for you at this moment.
