Try using water for frying of papads, home made condiments etc. You can really fry these items in boiling water. However, the fried items from water will not be tasty as there is no fat. However, for nonveg preparations, water is not subtitute for oil.
Yeah! article is obviously sponsored by some rice bran oil company probably one of the famous brands.
We get to read all kinds of nonsense. There is not a single oil in your diet which actually reduces cholesterol. All oils increase cholesterol.
Half baked nutritionists advised mixing 3 or more oils for sometime and now it's out of fashion, Olive oil was in vogue and it seems it's not so now. eat whatever you like, but judiciously. Lead a reasonably active life, and try to keep your mind calm. And everything should fall in place.

when you say cholestrol, there is LDL and HDL. One which is good cholestrol should be increased and bad cholestrol should be reduced.
Any oil overheated and repeatedly heated turns into a form - transfat, which cannot be broken down by the enzymes our body produces and this leads to absorbing and entering our blood stream, which in turns starts depositing on the walls of the blood vessels and clogging. This leads to heart attacks, paralysis and etc. Most oils if just used for garnishing such as pouring over the soups and salads are fine. But deep frying is the culprit. If you do a deep fry even olive oil is not good to consume.

Simply deep frying is not the culprit; the temperature at which trans fatty acids are formed (above 240 degrees C) are far higher than what are reached during deep frying... and good quality rice bran oils contain trans-fats well within the international standards

the book where you read it, just go back and ask the author, he will not be sure about any of this, just a prediction based on some half cook experiment. Have desi ghee and enjoy life. Ask dara singh the actor who is living in 90s and use to drinking desi ghee jars.

Dont go with mere one example (Dara Singh). There are very few in this world who eat glass or metals. Can you live eating them?

For your information, both Saffola Gold and Sundrop Heart have 80% Rice Bran Oil, and Dhara has recently launched a 100% Rice Bran Oil brand by the name of Dhara Life... Some other lesser known brands are Tandul, Rice Active and so on... You will find a lot of Rice Bran Oil in the market, just have enough sense to look at the back of the pack to see the composition of the oil that you are buying

I fully agree with you. All these oils like sunflower oil, margarine, olive oil, etc. are bad for health. Gingely oil (til ka tel), mustard oil, groundnut oil, etc. have been used for hundreds or thousands of years. But desi ghee is best. Not those with preservatives.

It depends upon your lifestyle... if you have a lot of physical work to do, consume as much of desi ghee as you want (basically saturated fats), but dont go accummulating it if all that you do throughout the day is sit on your desk
The best oils you can have are these: Coconut, Palm, Hemp, Avocado, Olive, mustard & butter. All these should NOT be refined, bleached or de-odorised in any way. And obviously, should not have been hydrogenated (like Dalda was a hydrogenated palm oil which started the heart epidemic in India). Do not be fooled by the Saturated Fat lie perpetrated by American soyabean seed producing giants like Monsanto Corporation, who effectively wiped out the Mustard oil from India in late 80's.
The article appears to be a commercial to promote the interests of rice bran oil manufacturers. Instead of making generic claims of the benefits, if scientific data is presented to substantiate the claims, like clinical trial data etc. it would be more trustworthy. Otherwise it simply is another old woman's claim like eating lot of ghee after delivery improves your recovery Venugopal
