RIM needs to reduce the price more to grow market share.
by amit agarwal on Mar 30, 2012 04:24 PM

If RIM wants to seriously capture a decent market with whatever products it has in its portfolio at this moment then it has to tap the youth whose pocket will not allow more than 5k for college going middle class guys, Rs 10k to 12k for upper middle class and Rs 20k max for people who are into new jobs and have money to spend. As far as security encoding of your services is concerned then you have also now established servers in India which indian agencies can access. So where is the special factor in your phones? As per me the prices should be as follows. 8520 Rs 4000/-, 9360 Rs 5500, 9380 Rs 7000 approx.

A poor price cut!

Dear RIM even after reducing price your phone does not have anything for which such a premium should be paid. You are bound to loose your market share to Samsung which is very aggressively marketing its smart phones and they are smartly priced. I agree with lot of people who have commented here that your phone should not be more than 7k. I purchased Samsung chat 522 6 months back at 5500 rupees which has all the features and it looks like your Curve 8520. What is good about your phone is that they look good and that is where the USP ends. You guys are very slow to respond to market changes. You are living in old legacy. Your ads focused on youths is a flop. Indian youths are not fools that they will buy this old technology for such a steep price.

Even at this reduced price of 21K we have better smartphones in market than this outdated Blackberry.

Blackberry is more suited to overaged uncles.

come on RIM

BB is always priced ridiculously. The Curve 8520 kind of phones are available for 3k to 5k from Samsung and LG
Torch kind of phones are available in the range of 12k to 16k from Sony, Nokia, Samsung, LG etc.
All that BB has got is BBM.But with What's App who needs BBM

They will be lucky if they get some fools to buy this phone at this price. There is nothing exciting in any of the blackberry phones. Reasonable price would be around 3k to 7k
