Afterall Samsung's Android smartphones outsold iphones last year. I have both an iphone and an HTC. I prefer HTC. I don't know the point about availability of apps. What is not available in Android Market/Google Play? I don't own tablets, but I do think the points remain valid.
The knockdown on Android app market is quite surprising. Yes, its not as badass like the Apple app market, but I'd believe there are enough apps to go around. As for the OS, are we not getting ICS into these now? What's the point of citing an older OS version as an irritant. Its a free upgrade, I think! Still think the Galaxy Note 10.1 is a good buy but I'll cheap out for now.
" Perceived needs " is wat this high end mobile market thrives on.... believe me these are all priced way way above wat it deserves.... the ad campaign for nokia lumia ran into more than 10 crores.....Same way with Samsung ...Galaxy tab ...and so on... Its senseless and the sole purpose of most of the buyers is to flaunt....nothing else.... !!!!

Samsung Galaxy Tabs are the only stiff competition to Apple as you said... the only problem is that they are not selling as well as the iPads. Oh wait a minute, even the Kindle Fire is outselling the Galaxy Tabs.
The bitter truth is iOS is easier to use. Now most users of Tablets are middle aged people like senior executives or rich people who are not geeks. Android appeals to the Geeks. For the rest, iOS is the best experience possible. In corporate environment, its iOS that dominates with zero presence of Android and ICS is not going to change that
Samsung, LG, Sony, can not match with feeling of Apple iPhone, iPad in hand. Its great feeling to have iPhone ... if you want any kind of feeling with device.. go for any under 10,000 Rs. phone you can have every thing you want but feelings

WOW, sounds like the first MACs when the late genius insisted that there should not be a 'noisy' cooling fan, so the devices were shipped without cooling fans.

well we got samsung tabs with fan offered by Anna/appa/ayappaingdas for next LS election in Chennai
Apple comes up with one product once in a while. No choices. And the iOS sucks bigtime! Android gives you more free apps and great features. Samsung products are good value quality products, not overpriced clunky Apple ipads and iphones. Am using Galaxy S. It is a lovely phone with great display, camera & features that iphone can never come close to. Galaxy tab is being used by my wife and it is addictively good. Note is any day a fantastic concept and price has come down. Apple can never hope to provide the range of products that Samsung provides. Their attitude to the Indian market is highly supercilious. Finally their products are only for the US market. We are not slaves to buy obsolete and overpriced products. Let Apple delude themselves that they are the best but choose Samsung instead of Apple!

Typically, like all Apple fanboys, you get angry and are unable to frame a rational response. Guess having an ipad or iphone cannot teach you manners! Also your slavery is so apparent. Incidentally all Apple products are made in China. And the glass on the iphone breaks into a thousand pieces when dropped. So much for class and quality!

How much price difference is there between iPad and Galaxy S? Atleast in US, they are only less than $100 apart. And apple app space has few apps that are quite useful. Samsung phones can make an argument but for tablets, seems like iPad2 and upcoming new iPad won handsdown. There will still be some market for cheaper devices, but apple just took over the higher end of the market completely.
I have owned a iPhone 4s and recently moved to Note and I must say that there is no difference i notice except the price. The iPhone is very heavily priced in India compared to most countries. I thought Indians would appreciate, support korean or japanese products than some western (or european) products. Even in the west the samsung is making a headway.
If Apple should consider any rivalry or competition then its only from Samsung and none other.

Mr. Brass Tacks, the above article itself shows that Apple is considering Samsung a serious rival. I expect Apple to start taking on water by end 2012.
I strongly believe that this post is totaly based upon an influence to support to closed technology. All the reasons give are not at all worthwhile. 1. Too many versions of TAB - is that a good thing or bad thing. There are lots of option available than vendor throwing you single option & you are opting for it. Its totally customers requirement which will allow him to decide his version of product 2. Price & Display - Samsung always gives you better option with AMOLED screen at the best price. If you really feel that they are overpriced then keep the feature & price tag side by side to compare with any other TAB 3. Half cooked OS - Please let me know which is fully cooked OS. With the support of open source, Android is really creating tons of apps 4. Lack of Apps - refer my point 3 as well as free applications from the open source is really a great advantage.
There are really overpriced closed source devices available in the market for non techie for whom this topic might be found very intresting....

Well, it is easy for google to be "open source" because it is not their product. They just copy iOS and reproduce it.
Since Samsung does create all the display technology etc, they are in a good position to take on apple. The phone is impressive. On the tablet front, they need to work harder. In the end, this competition is good for us.
