Google's new tablet has hit the sweet spot. the tablet pricing is also spot on. microsoft has been moving very slowly and also the world would very well do with microsoft not conquering another niche. we already see them monopolizing office suite and desktop OS. the last thing we need is another monopoly. apple will continue to be a niche player, just like their OS - besides apple is worse off being a VERY closed platform and control freaks as a company. android being open in nature - has transformed into a "windows" like platform for the tablets and phones.
may the consumer win with more choices and an open culture. not closed & choice less!

after a long time finally MSFT came up with a product which has the potential to redefine computing. This new puppy will surely take the tablet race to a whole new level. specially loved the ultra thin keyboard, thats something really innovative. this was one reason I personally have stayed away from a tablet. but now this thing can be used as a desktop/laptop pc alternative on a desk. well done, Microsoft.. !

I think you are new to the computing world ? how does ultra thin keyboard change everything ? there have been ultra thin keyboards before in the market too.
and what exactly microsoft has come up with that is going to REDEFINE computing ?
coming to your last point - tablets have been used for consumption, not content creation or productivity. for a productivity there's laptop/ desktops. tablets partially replace a desktop, but can't replace a desktop as yet for sure. tablet computing is low power device, while desktop is very powerful CPU
The 16:9 aspect ratio indicated that it is for entertainment (watching movies), not for productivity. iPad had 4:3 aspect ratio which is more usable for productivity tools and movies both.

Productivity apps don't suffer from aspect ratio issues.
Tablets are useful for viewing content whereas conventional PCs and laptops are useful for generating content. Surface seems to be an interesting ideas that combines the two features. Any idea when surface would be launched in India?

tablets are for media consumption, checking email, games, video chat etc. how does that make it a toy ? it can be incredibly useful too - for photographers and other professional uses.

What's the problem, it's just technology.. don't try label a technology.. I just can't wait to get my hands on surface. I used other pads like ipad and android but experiencing metro styles will be a different ball game.
the device crashed at explorer screen during the demo. youtube it. Only windows s/w it runs is office. No Appstore. You will need a crash course to use it.
