Doing away with JEE--The real motive
by outofstep on Jun 12, 2012 08:41 PM

One of the reasons IIT's were such standards of excellence was because they got the best talent through a tough but fair selection process. No question in the IIT exam was ever repeated in the last 50 years. Even the Americans have recognized the fairness and effectiveness of the JEE in recognizing the best talent. Compare this to the board exams where the same questions are often repeated with a few changes in figures and which you can do with rote learning.Apart from which there is a huge variety of boards with differing standards. Including the board exam results in the way the Government is proposing will only heighten disparities within different regions. However the real motive lies elsewhere. Today if a student gets admitted to an IIT he would not prefer to go to a foreign institution and even another private Indian institution. That is the power and sense of pride created by JEE. Destroying this would be therefore a logical first and a very important step in destroying an Indian system built up with a lot of hard work and dedication in the last 50 years. Unless this is destroyed the foreign educational institutions will find it difficult to get the best students for themselves and benefit in the process. We all know that due to the continuing recession in the US and European economies their Governments are seeking to open up the vast recession proof market of education in India. This then is the real motive of Mr. Kapil Sibal and Co.

Undemocratic Sibal
by outofstep on Jun 12, 2012 08:20 PM

The Government is not giving any kind of leeway to IIT's to decide cutoffs, weightages et al.They have been completely undemocratic. They adopted the report without even giving a chance to IIT's to comment or give their views. The Ramaswamy Report was adopted in September while the actual report was written in November. How could a report which was not written in September be adopted? Clearly the report for ISEET was adopted without taking all stakeholders into confidence and in unholy haste. If this does not show the ulterior motives of the Government what else does. As for their spurious argument that this is going to check the coaching institutes or improve schooling the less said the better. We all know that problems with schooling run much deeper than what can be even minutely corrected by an entrance exam

Single test & Coaching Classes
by outofstep on Jun 12, 2012 08:17 PM

Mr. Kapil Sibal and co. give the argument that a single exam ISEET is going to check the coaching classes. This is a downright lie since I don't believe that Mr. Sibal is being merely foolish or ignorant. I have personally talked to the top management and owners of coaching classes. They have clearly told me that they will benefit greatly from this new regime since now they can take the coaching right down to 6th standard because the student will now be under added pressure of doing well in the board exams too. What till today was not a market for them has suddenly opened up. They are already planning to introduce courses for board exams coaching. All the boards are now open to them. The politicians will make a lot of money now ,since quite a few own such coaching institutes.

Corrupt Government bent on destroying IITs
by outofstep on Jun 12, 2012 08:16 PM

The number of scams this Government has presided over is legendary. There has never been a more corrupt Government in the history of India. Look at the following instances and see how each one of them serves the foreigners :
a) Pension Bill : Aims to allow foreign pension funds to come in
b) Retail Bill : Aims to allow large foreign retail chains to come in
c) SEZ's :Organized land robbery by both large Indian corporates and multi-nationals.
d) Education : Dismantling the JEE to allow foreign institutions to come in easily.
Does this Government have any kind of legitimacy anymore? People who make petty allegations against IIT's are actually agents of the same Government and should be recognized for what they actually are on this forum.

Anti national
by outofstep on Jun 12, 2012 08:12 PM

One of the reasons IIT's had such great brand equity was because they had a rigorous and fair selection procedure. The logical first step in destroying this is to first do away with JEE. Only then the way will be open for foreign educational institutions to come in.Kapil Sibal and his cohorts within IIT's aim to do just that. They are not only anti national but are petty having sold the country to foreigners.

save the coaching centers

there are different coaching centers for different tests and they all address different kind of students if AIEEE comes then some the coaching center will go bankrupt.
only some will be able to compete in AIEEE environment.
please save the coaching centers for at least one more year and so on after that.
let rich people trend their kids to compete IITJEE and enjoy the excellence of IIT
