Bookish education hampers innovative spirit!!
by ravi on Jul 16, 2012 10:28 AM  | Hide replies

Indian education system produces graduates, engineers, MBAs who are suitable to get a corporate job! It is in sharp contrast to the US education system which shapes an indvidual and makes it EXPERT in HIS FIELF OF INTEREST! That is the reason India is nowhere in sports. A country with 125 crores population struggles to get even a single bronze medal! Moreover scientists in US and other European countries did not bother about college/university education. Sadly, India lags in all fields. But, kudos to this guy! There should be more people like Bharali in India!

That is why we have only academic brains and not creative brains.

That's not constructive. Do you have ideas how to improve education system? May be you take the lead, join the system and improve it.

A Rare Innovator Needs to do Still More
by PC mittal on Jul 16, 2012 10:23 AM  | Hide replies

Such innovators are born once in ages. The humanity requires his brains to solve thir problems with a lightening speed. The need of the day is that all our IIT's should hire his services to ignite the brains of their students for while doing their Project Woks, which should not be just show pieces, but rather most demanding items for the common and poor man

He does not have a degree. Does he qualify? Humanity terms he is highly qualified. Unfortunately in India we believe that an IIT gold medallist is one who can contribute to the system. It is sad that all of us like to preach and not practice.

This is a clear cut message that cramming books does not make any difference ...except for his own self...in order to excel one has to get deeply involved in WORK! Perhaps the hallowed IIT fraternity may take a leaf out of the book of Mr Bahrali...in selfless service and dedication to the cause rather than selling soap after obtaining an engineering degree!!!...The whole country salutes you sir..and you are a precious JEWEL of this country!

Your message seems to indicate that you have confirmed each and every IITian sells soap after graduation. Get a life, will you!!. Many IITians are involved in innovation.
Besides, I do not understand what is the single big takeaway of your message, are you talking about cramming books (which IITians definitely do not do), or are you praising the person in question, or are you doing India's favorite hobby, IIT-bashing!!
Praise him for what he is, you do not need to drag in IIT into everything.

Hey Dude...even if they r not cramming..they r not doing anything significant..in a recently released rankings by QS there is no IIT in the worlds best 200 universities....the pattern and system of education is all outdated...and they can best get a job in corporate..rather than innovate something..which can change lives of millions...they r trained to run with blinkers on their eyes...and throw creativity for a toss...

It is really inspiration that such people exist in India.. No IIT, IIM or MS (US)..
Great..

Fortunately He did not join a Govt. Job, where His innovative motivation would have been stopped by burocracy, favouritism, politics, theft of credit etc..

He also fortunately did not get into the trap of reservations by which Govt. would have showed prey of free-lunch, pocket money for the sake of votes.. by which He would not
have found the necessity for innovation..

In this case, His necessity and motivation resulted in innovations.. Abroad, that is how people become (became) great scientists..

He should be rewarded with Indian Noble-prize.

Best wishes,

There is a lot to take home from his interview. Many of his answers are worthy of being framed and re-quoted. The only part i don't agree with his views of capitalism. May be he realizes why it truly matters sometime in the future. Being an entrepreneur is not a sin but a blessing, especially a person of his caliber shouldn't think twice.

My best wishes with Uddhab Bharali. May he (and other similar ones) prosper and never get bogged down.
Note:It may be noted that no organisation (including Government) is 100% made up of 100% corrupt people. If that be the case-the nation would have come to a halt long back and game would have been finished. There are good and bad elements in every organisation. Calling each one corrupt would demoralise even the good ones.
Keeping Agriculture out of tax limits has also kept out of power all those who were involved in that profession. Whoever pays to run the country, would form the policy. Farmers are paying anyway by receiving less for their produce, and staying poor; but they are also getting treated like beggars. Once they learn to pay tax, they would control the policy.
