A great case of Mr. Arjun Pandit.....! It shows that when the going gets tough, the tough gets going. Let me narrate you my experience. I had some grave family problems while studying, so much that I was not able to concentrate on my studies. I also failed in Class-12 in 1 subject (Physics) and managed to do ok with other subjects. My parents were understandably very very upset with my performance. During the same time, my mother fell very ill and was hospitalized for 2-3 weeks. She was diagonized for Malaria, but some of my relatives termed it that she was hospitalized because of depression and some mental illness caused because of me. My relatives used to ill treat me and miss no opportunity in taunting me as a college drop out and useless fellow. Quite a few times, I wanted to commit suicide. Once, I even purchased a full bottle of liquid insecticide with an idea to kill myself, but was waiting for the opportunity to be alone at home so that none of them can save me.

During this period, I happened to listen to a few discourses by the monks of The Ramakrishna Mission regarding motivation and duties. Slowly, I started realizing that by ending my life, the only sufferers were my parents who not only had to face the wrath of the society but also feel the life-long pain of losing a child for no mistake of them (parents). I realized the by ending my life, only I was able to run away from the problem and my loved ones had to suffer their entire lives. This would not solve the problem but make it even more murkier.....
Luckily, I was able to get more inspiration and guidance from my maternal aunt and uncle who are both teachers. With their help, I completed not only Class-12 but even Bachelors of Engineering and secured a job. It was a very fighting, strenuous and painful journey in which I had to see bigger obstacles than failing Class-12. Now, I just ponder if I had committed suicide without bothering about my family who did everything possible to make me feel good.....

Your english and communication skills speak of your calibre and comeback. You have not just secured a job, but secured a good life. Kudos. The problem in our Indian culture is that, we do lots of comparison and downgrade ourselves.
Three Things: 1. Never feel inferior to those who have had more success than you. 2. Never ever show your superiority complex to those who haven't had that much succes that you have achieved. 3. Stop comparing yourself with others. Everyone's life is differnet.
Indians have higher rate of suicides. Biased social system, hostile people along with negative and depressive environment are prime reason. Develop self control, physical and mental power, optimism, healthy life style to counter that.

First we need to look at our educational system where the emphasis is more on obtaining marks. No attention is paid to individual talent. Introduction of job oriented courses should first be done. All marks that we score at exams serve no purpose.

Most common cause of suicide is depression. India has a very very low percentage of phychatrist per population , it is absymally low. If proper consultation take place at the right time. it can be avoided.

We must never allow negative environment to influence us negatively. Changing self is best way to manage environment.
