Only one Restaurant 4 km after Kushalnagar is decent with good ambience and best toilet to visit. This may be compared the best ambience all the way you travel from Bangalore or Mangalore to Coorg. The Coffee you get there is superb, a large cup costs just 20 rs, you will like to have 2 cups same time.

Dont have too much coffee, though it is very cheap and it is very dangerous to have coffee more than a certain limit. Take Kare
They could have shown sunset view from Raja Seat, Dubare Elephant camp, Tibetan Monastry, Abby Falls, Kaveri Nisargadhama.... The list goes on and on... But only problem is food.. Not many good choices in Madikeri...

My views on the above mentioned places by D J:
Raj's Seat: The park is dirty and there are local do-nothing-lazy locals who come in the evening for the musical fountain. The musical fountain (like in Brindavan Gardens) plays mainly to local kannada film songs which are lustily cheered on by the locals Abby Falls: A steep walk to the falls and your path is littered with plastic bags / bottles and half eaten thrown away food stuff and waste. The water below is also not spared and all kinds of garbage thrown in. Dubare Elephant Camp: Nice place with flowing water. The timings for the elephant training / sighting is changed arbitarily everyday. There are no proper toilets and you can see tourists peeing openly by the parking lot. Kaveri Nisargadhama: The temple is very nice and well maintained. The steep climb up the mountain does not yield anything. There are no safety barriers and you can see the tourist standing precariously near the edge to take pictures. Once again the top is littered with plastic. The toilets are well maintained.
Scenery of Coorg is much much better than the sick photos showed here. But i dint feel there weren't much of "quality" hotels to stay or eat as compared to places like Chikmagalur.

with the images they have shown here on rediff , it feels like any average place , full marks for rediff for ruining it
Who would have thought. one only hears about the busy, highly touristy places-that are easy to get to, but then have lost most of their charm because of commercialisation etc. This sounds perfect! will definitely try and add this to our must visit places on one of the trips to India.
