The moderate and number of cups are more relative terms. If someone having having mysore coffee and compare him in high doese starbucks, you are making a mistake. IN such reports they also tell the real facts about whether the people had coffee with milk, sugar or not. Most possibly, in countries like Europe they may not have milk or sugar added to coffee and their coffee aroma is pretty strong compared to south Indian filter cofeee.
Nice coincidence that it is matching the launch of Starbucks in India.
Wonder why cant Kolkata tea planters association start their own tea centres all over India.
Nobody in India knows how to make a good tea.
When you have world famous Darjeeling tea grown in India why not have them here and in that process help the industry to get a boost so that workers in tea plantations get paid better or keep their jobs.
Darjeeling Second Flush tea is great; a connoiseurs delight.
There has been enough research done about Coffee these past 30 years. And there is very little to prove that it is bad for health. In fact the opposite is true. And if you are worried about Diabetes stop Coke & add a sweetener to your coffee instead. And how did you get the concept that coffee affects your BP? it does not work that way. And an negligible amount of coffee is imported into India. It has been grown here in India for the past 150 years. Chikamangalur, Coorg, Hassan.

Yeah right. It is good if taken in moderate quantities, which is a few times a week not DAYS. The coffee and concentration the younger generation drinks is not desi make, but concentrated import.

Where do earth do you get your information from?!!! Nobody on this earth makes concentrated coffee. Only one company in Karnataka Tried to make it and did not succeed. I would suggest you to take a visit to one of the Barista's nearby and take a look at how the Coffee is actually made from freshly roasted and ground beans.
India is one of the largest producers and exporters of coffee. We do not need to import. And anyway coffee is the same every where, the same chemical compounds within, except for a few regional differences in flavors, so what does it matter? imported or Indian?.
Coffee is grown in three districts of Karnataka, two districts of Kerala, Two districts of Tamil Nadu and one district in Andhra Pradesh.
I suggest all of you to visit www.indiacoffee.org before you form your opinions.
This is the top nine in per capita coffee consumption Finland 12.0 kg Norway 9.9 kg Iceland 9.0 kg Denmark 8.7 kg Netherlands 8.4 kg Sweden 8.2 kg Switzerland 7.9 kg Belgium Luxembourg 6.8 kg Bosnia and Herzegovina 6.2 kg
all of them are European, very rich, extremely careful about what they eat and drink, and live much longer then us Indians (ranked 134) on that list http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_coffee_consumption_per_capita

Well this is an advertisement for Starbucks. TATA is planning to launch this brand in India and rediff is supporting their cause. This is a paid journalism with poor information.
Tea is a good antioxidant as well. coffee may be good but it can increase heart rate and BP , so not recommended [except in real moderation]in hypertensives, and heart patients. Normal indivisuals should also keep a check of sugar, fat in the creamer/milk that goes with each coffee.

This research report says something different than what you are saying. Rather you are saying opposite to research finding.
