It might be taken for granted that people (especially Indians) would respond to RSVP. A lot of them don't know what it is and even if they know RSVP, they just ignore the fact that they need to reply back with a count. RSVP is a cultural shift and not many Indians have adapted to it yet. So, when you are hosting a party and say RSVP on the invite..., make sure you call a few days in advance and have them respond to RSVP. I do that and still some people do not respons to RSVP and show up at the party. When that happens, I just say to them jokingly that they are "horible RSVPers". and ask them the questions how would they do it if they were hosting a party. That usually gets the point across.

Its a foreign culture.. Do not try to impose this on Indians as your answer lies in your question.. A lot of them don't know what it is and even if they know RSVP.
good tips. keeps it easy, simple and fun. why waste thousands in a night club, when you can truly have a good time, with the people you actually like being around.
