considering the cost aspect and loss of paper for the country as a whole this process can be delayed a little further so that maximum cheque leaves can be used. agai n this system is in vogue in micr cheque clearing centres and other centres can be excluded for the time being so that wastage can be reduced to the extend feasible The loss is for the public
Rubber stamping of old cheque books with the new security features should be cousidered and such rubber stamping should be done by any branch of the customer's bank!
the transition has to be smooth. Banks must be made to honour all earlier MICR cheques. The transition should be gradual and new cheque books issued by bank should be as per the new format. This will also save a lot of stationery. All cheques for self withdrawal can be the old ones. There is no need to waste stationery. Post dated cheques which are already issued must be honoured as it is extremely inconvenient for the beneficiaries to get these cheques replaced by new ones.

My bank (Private bank) wrote me a letter to use more mordern ways of transaction such as net banking and phone banking and do away with cheques. How about that? They are even beyond RBI.
