Why to write it is Dravidian or Tamil martial art. There are hundreds of Akhara / Vyayamshalas who train people in stick rotation , double stick rotation , stick fighting ( Lathi) and bare hand combat in whole of north India as well.

In north this is part of Dashurra procession also in Punjab it is more fierce and eveolved as Gutka where apart from stick various other weapons are used.

Who said South India remained untouched by the Mughals? The first to fall in war was Vijaynagar empire. The Tamils gave up without a fight. Alas, that is a different story. Oh btw, where did Tipu Sultan rule? Didn't his kingdom extend from Hyderabad to Kerala?

Dear Deshpande, you are one of the person's who would first have what you mentioned above. We all have respect for Shivaji. If someone had to comment on it your Mumbai will turn upside down. Follow Mahatma Gandhi- Live and let live. You definitely do your Graduation gain in History. Christopher the world in North who do not know the History of India but definitely like to comment on idli and dosa's first.
