The tamil nadu ladies apply lot of oil to their hairs and look oily. In appearance too their face is never cheerful. They wear such sari so that they can attract attention of their husbands (atleast). Similarly they use flowers in their hairs so that the sweat smell is lost. All 14th century ideas still existing.

It is a must and it protects them from the weather in the natural-way.
These sarees have always been elegant on Southern Ladies who can drape them with elan & elegance. Not fit for models who as someone has remarked are okay only for western outfits
