DEEPAWALI IS ALL JOY
by Chitranjan Sawant on Oct 20, 2011 02:19 PM

AUM
Deepawali is here and the mood of festival of lights is ipso facto ushered in. It is the weather that announced the change in environmental temperature first. When one goes to bed in the late evening it is a little warm and the need to wrap your body is not felt. however, as the night advances into the wee hours of the morning, the nip in the air is quite noticeabe and wrapping the body becomes a necessity. Not doing so may invite cough and cold. Who wants to fall sick in Diwali? Not you and not me.
MOUTH WATERING DISHES
Deepawalimeans lighting of lamps, imbibing Spiritual Light and banishing Inner Darkness too. of course, for children and aduts it is lighting of the lamp too.The main attraction is indeed the cooking of special mouth watering dishes in the house-kitchen and supplementing it with delicious goodies bought from the open market. The taste buds are exercised well in advance and that certainly heightens the finer taste of the special items cooked at home or bought from the professional sweet shops. In some cases the sweet sellers raise the price because no one would refuse to buy at an enhanced rate since it is a gift for children at home inthe neighbourhood and for the loved ones elsewhere. Thus no one minds loosening the purse string a little more but bringing cheer to the children Do not forget it is Diwali.
I must sound a note of warning before signing off. The unscrupolous elements among the sweet sellers sell adulterated stuff that may be poison

Cook your sweets in coconut oil, although high in calories it will not affect your body matter infect it will help loose the fat.
Coconut oil is not stored by the body as fat so no calories.

Fiber less sweets
by shanti Patil on Sep 21, 2011 09:47 AM  | Hide replies

Most of the sweets made from milk, maida, besan etc are of high calories and without any fiber. They are all junk foods. The best sweets are made from dry fruits like anjeer burfi, kardantu, dink laddu, til wada or gajak. Even gajar halva is good. Use lots of dry fruits in any sweets so that it will be more healthy.
