I hated my teachers
by Nonviolent on Sep 05, 2011 11:56 AM  | Hide replies

Our teacher gave preference to the rich student. They used to find fault with me due to my poor background.

Most of the studnts in India must have been descriminated due to their family backround

by yugapurush on Sep 05, 2011 11:50 AM

I used to respect my teachers, but this is not relevant anymore. Now education is commercialized and most of them act like goons why should we akd kids to repsect those> Now it is like any other business.

THE GREATEST TEACHERS ARE THOSE WHO TAUGHT THIS LIST!
by Kabeer on Sep 05, 2011 11:46 AM  | Hide replies

This is a funny list.

90% of the list is known to the outside world for their accomplishments outside the realm of education.

You wouldnt have heard of Radhakrishnan had he not been the President.

You wouldnt have heard of Tagor had he not been a great freedom fighter and a great poet.

Who would have heard about MMS had he not been a selected PM?

Savitribai Phule wouldnt have been heard of had she not been a social reformer alongwith her husband.

If I were the selector, I would have had a serious look at the teachers of these great illustrious people whom you had mentioned as great teachers. May be it is because of those who taught these men, these men have or had become what they are!

A Tribute!
by trivandrum padmanabhan on Sep 05, 2011 11:37 AM

It is said Maata, Pitha, Guru, Daivam in our culture.A Teacher is given rightful place after parents & before God.A society which respects Teachers is bound to prosper. Thus it is a bounded duty by all to give back to the institution of Teachers.Sadly in our country this profession is given a left handed treatment! High time the Govt.looks after the welfare of Teachers on a priority for our country to progress.

Not convinced by this list
by satarupa sen on Sep 05, 2011 10:59 AM  | Hide replies

MMS does not deserve a mention in this list, as he has never been hailed for his teaching/mentoring abilities. He's an exceptional scholar, not necessarily a teacher. Would have loved to see Prof. CNR Rao and a couple of coaches from the sporting field as well. Talking of classical music, with all my due respect to Ustad Alla Rakha and Pandit Sawai Gandharva, I firmly believe the two greatest gurus in this field are Ustad Allauddin Khan and Pandit Jnan Prakash Ghosh.
