Can any Kannadiga help me
by aus on Sep 05, 2011 10:13 AM  | Hide replies

While touring KN, especially Bangalore, i kept hearing the phrase repeatedly - "Kannada marthad re".
People used to say this a bit aggressively.
I am not attuned to the local culture so i used to say, "sorry, but i dont speak kannada". But this used to infuriate them even more.
Can anyone help me.
What does this phrase mean.

You met all wrong people then.

Most of the Bangaloreans speak HIndi and they do not have problems speaking Hindi. OR they may genuinely not be knowing HIndi / English.

You need to visit Chennai to understand that bangaloreans are much softer.

Uncalled for stupid comment, which presumably is by a Kannadiga. BTW, the North Indians laugh at Kanndiga Hindi !

Lets not play politics on the forum. Politicians are there to do that.

Marathis are not giving importance to marathi...only politicians are...

To learn local language is a MUST...In my office with marathi staff, we spek in marathi MOSTLY.

Please let such places be what they are - PRISTINE & let real connoisseurs drop down to relax their minds here. Don't hype them just for paid publicity. Or else, the Marketing Wolves & Showy Idiots will screw up such places in no time.
