very few of us really scrutinise the bill and end up paying the "double" taxes as well as leave a tip..leaving the restaurant and its staff laughing all away to the bank. Why can't the Sales tax and/or excise Autorities take suo moto action and present guidelines so that these crazy billings are done away with...

Because the govt banned pesky SMSes So they have found innovative ways, to order restaurant food and send the bill to your address. So is it not clear that the underpinnings of 2G scam were based on fraud, to commit the crime and pin and plant the blame on a third person. It still takes the blind government to understand what it means. It looks like someone is desparately trying to make a pitch for some marketing technology, by which corporates can implant a genie which will cause the product to break at regular intervals after the warranty period is over . So if you are kept under the tutelage of a prisoner or a terrorist, like Kasab and Afzalguru and feed them biryani, you improve the chances of making someone like the same. What exactly are they trying to do?? improve the terrorist or make someone else like him. That too when you have never seen or met the person or had tea with the person, Govt has found innovative ways to enforce equality, then government MPs should also start living on Rs 32 per day.

Thanks for the inputs. I don't mind paying service charge forcibly; afterall we should encourage such employment of waiters. But if the service is pathetic, we have every right not to pay.
