Policing is what has happned.Moral policing isa differentdomine!
by Bala krishna on Dec 06, 2011 09:26 AM

The thin line of red should never be touches up by a civilized person, as it embarrass the public and police right is inherent, though the excuse of no private space in living conditions is partially appears to be a reason cant be taken shelter as there can be other options open subject to economic factor which may be the primary cause to be addressed to eliminate embarrassment.
Moral policing is a civilized do mine where nobody can force upon the other as self regulatory machinisem thought in home by parent's,relativesand friend's so that the society is the mirror of civility though it can't be observed by nacked eye can be percieved to inculcate.

The police should be punished too
by Grover Omprakash on Dec 03, 2011 11:08 PM

Let the Jan Lokpal in and it will all get balanced.

BTW, the reason perhaps why women fear and are against moral policing is because if you remove the 'moral' or ethics from the society, it would become soo easy for them to fool men and eliminate them from jobs, business, politics or any position of power and respect.

I guess an example of this phenomenon could be Mrs. Sonia Gandhi who is never questioned whatsoever.

Tellus: Do we need moral policing?
by Upadhyayula Muralikrishna on Dec 02, 2011 04:58 PM  | Hide replies

We need it sometimes because the easily vulnerable youth in their adolescence are apt to go beyond limits of decency and responsibility that may push them to rebellious nature if left unchecked at the proper time. Just think of as to why should these youngsters appear in uncompromising positions in public places? Such examples are but a few aberrations that need proper counseling. Why comlacency at the right time and later regret for the ill effects like AIDS/HIV, unwed mothers, dustbin babies? To err is human. But perpetuating the error is a crime. To check and affect corrective measures should be everyone's duty, not simply that of policeman in order to have a healthy and harmonius civilized society.

it's not police's job to sit in the judge's chair and give punishments. When women actually come and complain about violence and abuse, they are loathe to take any action. Here they are punishing people for no crime. This is total abuse of power.

MORAL POLICING
by niranjan bakshi on Dec 02, 2011 12:07 PM

AT THE OUTSET, WE MUST RESIST THE TEMPTATION TO BELIEVE THAT A MEDDLING PATERNALISTIC STATE IS THE WAY TO THE FUTURE. AND WE CANNOT LEAVE IT TO THE POLICE IN OUR COUNTRY TO DECIDE THIS MATTER. THEY ARE UNCOUTH, INSENSITIVE AND OPPORTUNISTIC. WHAT LAW EMPOWERS THE POLICE TO MAKE SUCH COUPLES DO PUSHUPS, AND WHATEVER?

Time to have a few educated police men
by Saikat Sengupta on Dec 02, 2011 12:44 AM

Extending the above logic all women should stay indoors and preferably be in burqua, people should not own any valuables as they prove to be a temptation for others and a law and order problem, and so on , we might as well embrace Taliban and its philosophy, wonder why people find it so difficult to accept and respect liberty and freedom of others. As was famously said " I have no problem with the way narrow minded people think and behave, but I do have a problem with the way they want us to think and behave"

Morals and Policing
by Shyam Sunder on Nov 30, 2011 07:44 PM  | Hide replies

Just ask do we need Morals and Policing separately. If we need them separately why not together? Anybody can just see whether they were just being together or doing more than that, exceeding the limits. And just guess, the girl did not want to disclose her identity because she is not sure if they would continue their relation or marry. Or could well be already married to somebody else. Is this what is democracy and progress? Now the media says this is interference in personal life. After a few days, when the girl avoids this guy and this guy does something else like attacking her, the same media would say police is not working at all. Let us not be hypocritical in every thing. Such things must stopped in bud to ensure a safe future.
