This is a poor guide for buying a laptop. It says: 'I think you have to ignore this if you want a real good and big laptop'. I dont think its true with the new ultraportable laptops which give high performance (i5 and i7 options available) and are less than 1.5 kg. There is no mention of Solid State drives for improvement in boot time and read/write speeds. Isn't Graphics memory a must for gamers and High usage customers? The article gives an impression that the high usage users are just limited to gaming and watching movies and therefore they should look for large screen, which is not true at all...

Most laptops available today in indian stores and malls are of very low quality. Within months of their purchase their parts fail and they go for repair. Dell latitude is one of the very few that are good. Even business laptops from makes like lenovo are low quality. Another big problem with laptops is that once their 1 year warranty is over repair costs are very high and spares are not available easily for the particular model. Best option is to go for assembled desktops which are not only cheaper but spares are available everywhere at low price. Laptop is only for someone who is alway s on the move and if such is the business need then go for dell latitude with 3 years warranty.

Plz dont compare Desktops and Laptops..as far as Laptops are concerned u pay the price for portablity..if portability is not a priority of yours you are always better of having a custom built desktop..tho laptop and tablets are thing of the future..
Who would have thought 5 years back that you can play most game on Full HD maxed out all settings on a rig that weighs 3.5 kg

Most LAPTOP company are not providing warranty service well. They would put many restriction like registration in call centre etc in such a way that common people would generally fed up and abandoned . There is no honest policy in company. Once a laptop is sold, company does not take any responsibility .

you forgot acer, the worst kind of service a laptop user can have, u buy a laptop from them u get headache, tension, blood pressure due to anger, loss of workdays due to servicing laptop from them. yes with extra cost of mobile bills (calls to service support). I managed to finally find the problem with the graphics card, they did not have it, so downgraded it to nvidia 520m from 540m. Never buy acer, they are cheap and cheap in character and service support too.

Dell products are worst and their service are much more worst.. really pathetic..!!.. Lenevo products are much much more better than Dell
With all the mentioned points mentioned above, we must be ready to shell out close to a Hundred Thousand Rupees. Not at forty to fifty thousand rupees.

@Mahesh, that is not true. most of the laptops offered in the i3 range have been less than 50K, if you are not hung up brnad name like Sony. Even then, they are available at sub 60 range.
