Ramesh and IIT
by suren patel on May 30, 2011 03:39 AM

Jairam Ramesh, why as a christian converted change your name to Joseph Richard , then preach about what is bad about IIT, as then your true self will be revealed to the gullible and sleeping majority community

Mr.Jairam Ramesh.
by P RamachandraRao on May 29, 2011 11:22 PM

Mr.Jairam can only be pitied for making such an untenable statement. Can he say that all our politicians and ministers are capable enough to rule the country. It is our misfortune that no minimum educational qualifications are prescribed for politicians and rules. A person without any basic education can become an education minister. But it is not same case with an IIT professor.

Agree with Jairam Ramesh

Medical schools in India get the most talented students in India, however, that does not mean that they have world class teachers. Actually, good research and quality academics who are inclined to do any research are rare. Forget basic research, even clinical translational research papers from AIIMS or CMC,Vellore are not too visible in the high quality journals.
Same logic should apply to IIT.

IITs
by Swami N on May 29, 2011 07:12 PM

are best below mediocre institutes whose focus is teaching undergraduate students 25-50 year old courses. They were not created for research.

Some IIT Profs do find time to do research and the institutes even award PhD degrees but its not their focus unlike research universities in US.

IISc's and TIFR are on the other hand research institutes. Why arent they top class is another issue.

Well said. "Empty vessels sound much" is the fittest proverb in this case.

Bad mouthing minsiter
by rammohan varir on May 29, 2011 02:24 PM

He is not doing good work as an environmental minister. He cant solve the POSCO issue, Jaitapur issue is in the boil too. Endosulphan issue his position was against a whole generation of people in Kasargod and border areas of Karanataka. And he then pouches on the territory of another high fi minister Kapil Sibal. He took full week to respond to his colleagues comment, which only means he know that much about his minsitry. He then travels all the way to Ahmedabad to hang Modi.Shame on these idiots

Mr. ramesh its not easy to comment on anyone's work. but its not that easy to sort out the problem of iit & iim students. so according to me you have to rethink about it.

'Mr Ramesh, first become an IIT prof then react'
by Maharajapuram Venkateshan on May 26, 2011 05:24 PM

Jayaram Ramesh is an IITian who lived in campus since his father was a professor in Civil Engineering Department of IIT Bombay. While that in itself might be a moot point, the very fact that his comments have so many persons both supporting and opposing his viewpoint indicates that this issue needs to be debated. To state that he must be a professor before he can comment is an illogical stance.
