Why to stress the word - Truck driver son
by Gopi on May 25, 2011 05:58 PM  | Hide replies

Why to stress the phrase - Truck driver's son ? He is also a normal human with a brain. People who are financially weak doesn't mean that their IQ is also weak. Super30 academy should bear in mind that their money can buy them the required study material, but not talent and IQ. Also, Super30 is not disclosing the ranks of these students. Why ? Rediff and Super30 might be creating a hostile feeling among other IIT rankers by stressing the word Truck driver son and not announcing the ranks.

Yaah Gopi, I also agree with you and endorse fully what you have expressed in your views above. Economically weaker students, but talented and with required IQ to compete the said competitions , may not have money to buy books and to afford tutions/private coaching etc. but their talent, if given a right path with positive attitude and needed facilities, they get through very well to achieve what they wish to.
In olden days poor/down trodden intelligent pupils were financially supported by the economically sound people and at times by erstwhile rulers also from their state exchequer. So it hardly needs to mention as to whose son he was and to which community he belonged to etc.
In our area - Sawai Madhopur distt.of Rajasthan , there are innumberable boys selected for IAS and IPS whose parents are/were farmers and may be some from economically weaker section. So there is not a question of one being economincally sound or poor or being belonging to a particular community or otherwise but it`s a question of how far he is capable of displaying his competence at a point of time when needed. But at the same time I am also of the views that such news columns, inspires those students too who despite having all the facilities provided by their parents, may be, at time , by hook and crook, do not work hard and simply waste time money .

Agree with you Gopi but I guess the author was trying (as usual in Indian media) that some one from a financially or socially marginalised background made it to the front. The idea is to inspire others of such background that, Yes, it is possible , no matter what your back ground is. All you need is proper advise and coaching and a loving support.

Anand
Re: congrats
by Anand on May 25, 2011 11:01 PM
Super 30's co-founder Anand Kumar has been the subject of much criticism in the last few years. Some of his critics in the local media and other not-for-profit organizations based out of Patna allege that Anand has discontinued teaching students for the programme. Instead, he scouts for students who are likely to qualify IIT JEE and pays them money to show them as his students. It was also alleged that Anand went around coaching institutes in New Delhi and Kota to hire students for this purpose. A number of non-Bihari students in his batch of 30 in 2011 lends credence to this claim. Also, the oft-repeated claim of Anand Kumar that he was offered an admission to the prestigious Cambridge University has been contested in the press. An interesting thing to note is that Anand Kumar only has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Magadh University and has never himself been succesful in any competitive examination in India.

Google search for a Business standard story on Anand Kumar that exposes his mis-doings.

Soon digvijay singh will anounce that there should be institutions like super 30 for giving free coaching accomodation for so called minorities.
Nothing is done for high class poor hindus, Our politicians are great shame for our nation. A black stigma on our earth. They are always after appeasement politics.
This is a great lesson for our politicians.
I salute super 30.
