Incomplete article
by navin k on May 17, 2011 12:07 PM

I have no clue why this article was written in the first place.
Is this for people working in the MNC's? Or is it for people working in Nationalised Bank? Or hotels? or supermarkets? It is rather confusing.

Firstly, this article is incomplete. The writer is trying to imbibe certain western customs into a much broader subject of communication.

A namaste is how we greet in India. A handshake is what the West follows. Does it mean that a namaste is not effective communication?
If we fold our hands in front of our elders, it is giving respect. If you do the same in an office in USA, it supposedly means you are uninterested!

Effective communication is a huge subject, which varies from industry to industry, country to country and people to people.
What has been written here is probably for school kids to have a brief idea of communication in offices.

The writer should be very clear on the aspects of communication and body language. They are two different subjects. Trying to club both of them and writing it as "Effective Communication" is a feeble attempt.

Most of indian have breathing problem.
by manoj kumar on May 17, 2011 12:03 PM

They speak fast. and reason is fear. they get nervous. also lack breath. they say speaking is nothing but exhaling. we are not trained in breathing deeply. if you dont have enough air in lungs, obviously u cant speak with ease and power.
most important is self awarness. if lack awarness of setting, you, other and medium where communication is taking place. you will fail. so awarness is most important. its basically self awarness. some mindfulness meditation can help u. dont listen to old Rajesh khanna and amitabh songs. they take u in fantasy. u get bad habit of living in unawarness.now days they are making songs with less bass and drum. they leave you in present moment. dont take u in unawarness.

All HR should immediately fix a sound tracking system in the toilets to detect the farting sound by lazy mongers who visit toilet often

Just pointing out a fault to show one's superiority or knowledge is NOT etiquette, please.

After staying in US for a decade I realized that small errors in spoken english are ok. Most of the americans don't use proper english. Its just colonized countries like India that are after perfect grammar. So my advise is take it is as long as the error is too esoteric for anyone to know.

this hapens because that is their mother language. even we are not perfect in hindi becaoz it is our mother language. no one learns mother language thoroughly.. errors can be ignored but not when u r speaking in public forum where people tend to look at u as idols....i agree but its just a suggestion from me
