South India always rocks
by ASHISH KUMAR on Jun 13, 2011 05:10 PM

In IIT JEE- Andhra has 40 students out of top100
In UPSC- TN bagged 4 out of top 10.
South always rocks.
Obsession for IIT/IAS is more in north due to lack of decelopment but still majority of toppers come from South & west.
In CAT always west & south has maximum no. of successful canditates.
In Business intelligence gujrati always rocks.
In sports, art, culture, scientist also south & west rocks ( only exception is WB).
But i never find any south indian or maharstrian or gujrati branding their community as intelligent as most of them are professional , modest & low profile people.
But people from north (Bihar/UP/MP/Raj etc) simply believe in show off & will alwyas claim that they are most intelligent even though fact is very opposite.
Real fact is in south & west no one give very special importance to govt jobs & there are so many better alternates avialable.

UPSC results out! TN girl bags top spot

Congratulations for the hardwork and effort, but thats the end.- These aspirants/civil servants if they say that they like the power thats in the all india services, then I can clearly say they are not working for society, cause a good and clear minded person does not say or see it as "POWER" and rather he sees and says it as "necessary tools and guidance" for carrying out actual job/rendering actual service to citizen. Its only in the context of misuse that a candidate/civil servant says "I like the power given to and IAS/all india services cadre". Any country in the world if considered as strong lineage in society building coming from the "SPECIALIST" and the "Generalists" are just treated either equal or a step below. Take example of JAPAN that has raisen from ASHES to the richest country, only cause of the absence of such hierarchy in society and importance for techincal manpower. Same is with EUROPE or even US EXCEPT FOR THE BRITISH. These britishers were the ones who lived on others resources fooling others and reaping benefits on those. they needed such heirarchy. Any technical innovations in the world has been given by the Germans, these innovations have been running the economy, be it AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY or CHEMICAL INDUSTRY. The benefits have been shown asthough the GENERALISTS (like the bureaucrats and the MBA's) have been creating the

Goes back to the culture that valued reading by rote and memorizing facts. We have successful technologists, innovators who go unappreciated and unsung.

You achieve for what? Gloat. Not to put down others. To serve others. These achievers studied with tax money paid by others. If they feel that they pay back, they will be honest and serve the country.

Appreaciate the TN contribution. But, please do not divide the country. Another important thing is, lets move away from the bureaucratic country to a more matured developing country were every type trade-person in society is important and is seen as a contributor to GDP and we less glorify the IAS/all india services as that is more of a regulatory job than a GDP adding job.

Congrats but......
by N K on May 13, 2011 10:58 AM

Congratulations to all the successful candidates but whats the point of becoming a public servant after so many years' hard work when your ministers haven't even finished basic education. Even if you try to do the right thing and system is rotten..those illiterate leaders make one phone call and release 500 crore rupees of likes of Harshad Mehta....One of my friends was working as an IAS officer, was fired because one of the ministers was caught receiving bribes to do favours for candidates in the same batch so they fired the whole batch for that year even the genuine ones,it happened 15 years ago;he is still waiting and ofcourse moved on..he is a University Lecturer and Researcher but dreams were shattered.....So good Luck to all of them and hope they become part of the system for good.
