American style song
by James McDonald on Jun 15, 2011 10:16 PM

The song definitely goes in the "Western" section I'd say. There's not much Indian about it, especially if you don't see the video. A lot of it can be found other American-type music; quite a few similar songs.

Really ?

I dont know Bindu. I do like L. Subramanian & his son Ambi is good too.

With all due respects, the way the world today is that,

BINDU would not have had even this interview but for her parents. Does she know how many talented musicians are out there without recognition?

Do not take me wrong, but most musicians in India past and present do not have an idea of the others in the country. It is very difficult to keep track of all or most of them regularly.
If I tell you that India is the only country which has two classical forms of music, Hindustani and Carnatic and we have had this for centuries.

As a star kid, it is always more difficult to get appreciated by other legendary musicians. A star kid might be a hit with the music listeners, but getting appreciation from other legendary musicians is very very difficult.

Take Anoushka Shankar, daughter of Pandit Ravi Shankar as an example. She has done many fusion albums with greats from across the world. She has been around for a few years now but has not yet been appreciated by other music greats from India.

A rock band from India can practice for a few years, perform and attain success much faster than a classical musician. A rock band can make money 5 years from their start. A classical musician, ex:Carnactic, will have to practice for 15 - 20 years before he/she can start performing and only later think about money!!

Let it be any of the star kids, Anoushka Shankar, Rahul Sharma etc, they are yet to get the appreciation from other legends.

Becoming a Pandit or an Ustad is extremely difficult. By the time they do become one, most popular music artists start and retire, making millions on their way.

For that matter, how many times have you heard music greats appreciating eachother (dnt consider the praisings on the stage which was a prepaid boughtout deal)? Not only in music, but in evey field... somehow, the pride and headweight gets accumulated on their way to success and they forget the path they take and the people who supported them. So, definitely, the real talents get appreciated by the people and the ones that are star kids really get a jump start or a launching pad without having to wait like the others. Surviving is in their own hands.

I agree with several of your views but the reality is this.

You - as in YOU - personally - wont oversee the execution of such policies. WHat if the law enforcers - Police and Judiciary use this mechanism to settle scores with their personal enemies and then grow so much power that their area/district/state is in their control and not yours! Hmm.. that sounds more like some of our neighbouring nations!!

Law enforcement like the one you said is a problem, thats the only problem.
