Try acting like, I mean talk with mentors in a way that u are not the one who is really in need of the lone job. Just act little adamant and LITTLE unpunctual !!
put in your paper ... if you are good at your job, you will be called for a discussion.. renegotiate your salary and designation. you will end up getting double the salary instantly..it works much better than asking for a raise.. but, remember, maximum twice you can do this trick..third time you will have to look out
There are people (men and women) who do absolutely no work but are paid the moon. The management seeks people who are plain "yes" men/women and it seldom works out in the favour of the hard deserving work.
Politics also plays a very big role. People who are sincere in their work are always most of the times ignored and thick-skinned people enjoy life.
And as again, the management is least bothered. I am sure many of us have gone through this.

Absoluetly plum at the point. It is more or less prevailing in every organization and no one can change it in the near future.
An imp thing one must learn is that to succeed and ensure successful professional career you need a skills of Adjustment, Adaptation and pateince. This is sometime we refer it as thick skin, meaning thereby they are not reactive. Thsi is success "Mantra " in pvt organizations.
