According to Hindu mythology or "Samudridrika Sastra",there are divergent opinions on this which are diagonally opposite. As mentioned in the Valmiki Ramayana Rama & Seetha were just alike & hence made an ideal couple "made for each other" apart from all good the qualities & virtues expected of a wife & husband respectively. On the other hand, astrology does not permit even the two born on the same star & there is a cumbersome calculatory chart to decide about the comparability of the would be couple. These are, however, matters of ones individual faith & some one asks as to what the other countries' -say western OR of other religions see?Are they not happy without seeing all these? But genetically speaking, the argument that if both man & woman bear the same features, their being distantly linked with the relation of brother & sister cannot be ruled. It is not fair for rediff to publish such an article based on the experience & perception of a single individual. It may please desist from doping so & save the precious time of its readers.

You are wrong Mallaiah, The analysis is correct according to Hindu Sastra. Roopa Porutham says that when two couples look alike, that is a compatibility factor, But not necessarily characteristics. The Kundali tries to balance extreme charactereistics with the other extreme. The goal is good balance. Suppose if one individual is quite balanced in a certain sphere already then a girl with the same balance can reinforce the equilibrium
In a short sentence, roopa / visual similiiarities are encourged while some characterisitc extremes are balanced in Jyotish
