Abortion is no doubt condemnable. But can anybody deny the cost of raising a girl? Its much higher than a boy. Now today's girls are careerists. So along with the cost of marriage there is also the added cost of the higer education and career building of the girl. Even if the girl is working she will still expect and ask her father to pay for the bills of her marriage. Also keeping a girl in an unknown city like Delhi or Mumbia for her higher education is costlier than a boy. Boys can take a lot of hardship. They can get into the general class of a train. But for a girl she will always prefer sleeper class if not AC or flight. Now after spending so much of money she will go to another family. Now the guys generally stay with their families. Today's men are getting closer to their parents and look after them after witnessing the idiosyncracies of so called modern women.Now women and feminists may not like my words. But this is practical and in case of the education or marriage nobody will come forward to help? So why to point towards others?Even a month ago a lady judge was reported in the media to list her daughters as liabilities. Only a fool can deny the huge cost associated with girl children.

Dear Chalta hai, may be a boy or girl it is our responsibility to bring them up equally, with right values in life, they may stay with us, or move ahead in life, but we will have peace of mind we did the best for both of them......

Chalta Hai, thanks to people like you, female infanticide is still happening. that lady judge whom you are referring to, I pity her... being a woman she is making such a statement. can you tell me why DOWRY is such a big deal even now? why people use it as an instrument to get out of a bad marriage even now? And I hate people who say women have it easy. I dont think so. Women never had it easy anytime. They contribute to society as much as men do....I dont know why people make such statements and make women feel they are a liability. Remember you too have a mother and other females in your life...If you get a daughter please dont ever talk like this in front of her. Perhaps people like you are the reason why some women behave the way they do. their family members must be telling them it is okay to suck because they are women anyways....that is what is grilled into a woman every moment in our society..but it is a fact that men can afford to suck. women cant.

it is actually men who are responsible for the existence of such women... a woman who is a shrew is typically treated like a queen by every man. these women are the ones that men label as "intelligent". you guys asked for it...

If everyone thinks like this then either you get a uneducated wife or your mother will be like that, will you accept it. COst of raising a girl is much lower as they don't fuss like a boy, don't flaunt father's wealth to girl friends and so called friends. I am from Nashik, in the last Kumbhamela held here in 2003, I have seen so many son's left their elderly parents in Nashik, to feed on begging. And you say boys will look after their parents, see around your locality , ask some parents and you'll get the answer.Don't be a shame, man.
