minority status of colleges...
by AK on Jun 27, 2011 02:09 PM

All the minority colleges, especially those started during te british time, shd be made to abolish the highly unfair “minority quota” which I guess is 45%. During those times only the xtians could start colleges easily due to the british support and so most old institutions are so called “minority institutions” and most seats are reserved for Xtians. When the faculty salary, which accounts for more than 90% of the expenditure, is paid by the government, why shd they be allowed to enjoy the special privileges..? Any college which is run on govt funding shd not be allowed to hold the minority college status. If this is brought in a good number of seats will be released for all. The same issue is there Chennai as well as most old colleges are so called “Christian minority colleges” and xtians get seats like breeze whereas others with much higher scores suffer.

mountain of a mole hill

this is only the first list cut off. SRCC will have its second and third lists also, bringing down the entry % to 93-94. When all boards are adamant at giving 90 to average students, institutes should either keep high cut offs or have entrance exams.

See SRCC has proved everyone wrong. After all the halla about 100% cutoff there was almost nothing left for the second cutoff in SRCC. Basically kids have done exceptionally well this year.
