As a doctor.. i did like to say that The spastic diplegia is a type of cerebral palsy with no mental retardation at all... wht needs to be appreciated is that he did it inspite of physical abnormalities...there is no mental retardation involved...IT IS NOTHING TO BE AMAZED OFF and jump.. cause this variety of CP is very common.. it is no xtraodrinary feat conidering the mental aspect...

Abstract for our project
Objective :- Our objective is to assist cerebral palsy patients using electronic appliances like TV,Tape Recorder,Laptop,,PC or any other equipment operating at Infra Red Frequency.
Spastic Cerebral palsy :- Cerebral Palsy refers to a group of non-progressive disorder that causes physical diability in human development.Majority of the Cerebral Palsy patients fall under the category of Spastic Cerbral Palsy and have little control over their limb movements.CePAL is a device for such patients.

Methodology :- CePAL would be installed on a hand/head/wrist or any suitable body part which is capable of producing optimum tilt thet can be detected and differentiated.CePal uses 2D accelerometer sensor to sense the slightest of tilts. The detected tilts are sent to the ADC pin of the microcontroller chip. The microcontroller then maps these digital values from the ADC to the IR control signals. The IR signals generated depends upon a variety of factors including the IR protocol of the target device, the direction of the tilt and the action to be performed based on the requirement of the patient. The complete architecture would be designed on a light weight general PCB to facilitate the user in using it without any hassles.

Major Outcomes Expected :- We want to ensure self dependency of patients in their daily work.Cerebral Palsy patients have been using a number of assistive technologies over the years but because of their complexity and huge prices, existing devices are out of the reach of general population. We expect to provide a much cheaper and effective solution, not yet available in the market.
Practical Implementation And Commercial Viability :- CePAL finds its applications with appliances operating at IR frequency. This is a novel idea and can be great alternative for remote controls available in the market. Its cost effectiveness and ease of use enhances its commercial value to a great extent. It has been designed keeping in mind Spastic Cerebral Palsy patients having partial control over movement of limbs; however,it is useful for people who are partially handicapped, old age,and suffering from arthritis, paralysis or any other limb related disorders. It is also a possible answer for people suffering from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome caused by excessive use of mouse and keyboard.
