Surprising list!!! I am not sure of the methodology. Not a single one from Pune. Govt. college Pune has been awarded the status of University but does not figure in first 50 colleges!!!

Who is this Maddy? We are on a serious subject and observations that some of the poor colleges have found their way into the list. Looks like the list is based on perceptions rather than any analaysis.

infrastructure wise VIT is par excellance among indian colleges, capitation fee is not a criterian at all in ranking,No college is interested in research or creativity , govt colleges faculty want salary and do other business like real estate, in pvt colleges mgmt want money, faculty work like donkey, students are bonded slaves , ultimately in india , education is a licence to earn some money decently ......nothing more than that.

Besides meritorious and poor students no one will be denied a seat in VIT! Common man isn't it a privately owned institue? have u seen advertisement in nationaly dailies about IIT/NITs very few! but VIT always is in advertisement! and the money comes out of donations from students badly wanting a seat

50 Top Engineering Colleges

What ever reasoning and methodology applied it is IITs first then NITs and then BITs Pilani and other colleges. Since when you take AIEEE the top cream are always at Warangal Trichy etc since most of the students are from AP Bihar Rajasthan and they prefer these. Even Calicut and Surathkal are rated higher than Trichy and Warangal but reaching is tough. You lose much time to travel there hence less prefered else Surathkal stands first among NITs followed by Calicut, Trichy n Warangal. Infrastructure, Hostels etc are par excellence. But food is bad at Surathkal since the food stalls and mess are run by Faculty's kith n kin. Food is rotten. You manage this then you are at the right place.

garbage in,garbage out

Whatever may be the methodology you have adopted,it is certain that crucial parameters are missing.Hence the conclusion is 'garbage in,garbage out'.Having taught in MANIT for 35 years,I am astonished that this NIT figures in the list at all.For 15 years there was practically no teaching in this college and examinations were a farce due to mass copying even at post graduate level.(See the reports of Sathyam and Chaturvedi committees).More recently Buch committee and Shukla committee recommended the sacking of 60 faculty selected in 2005 as the selections were done after bribery. The director and deputy director left under a cloud, the former is facing prosecution. One can easily imagine the standard of teaching.
I had taught in HBTI also.It is a provincial college with a limited vision, fully reflecting the backwardness of the state in which it is situated.
