Lemon is not recommended by many doctors for people with acidity as it contains ascorbic acid.

Certain citric foods create "alkaline ash" on digestion and in turn it helps lower acidic content in the digestive tract.

Nope. In fact, lemon juice after meals is recommended in Ayurveda for reducing acidity.

Acid content in any fruit does not literally mean that it will promote acidity.

Another superfood that reduces acidity is the Indian Amla - Gooseberry.

lifestyle and habit issue more than foods
by Devdutt Nayak on Jun 07, 2011 07:34 AM  | Hide replies

just switching foods is not enough.

Eat less at one time and eat more times.

Dont eat spicy food just because it tastes.

Does anyone ever pour dyes and perfumes into car petrol because it looks and smells good?

Cars cannot smell petrol, but we can smell and taste ours. So we hanker for smell and taste. But the idea is the same.

If you think pouring perfumes and dyes into your petrol wont help mileage in cars, or wont help the engine, then the same applies to food - dont eat spicy food, engine gets spoilt.

Do regular maintenance and cleaning - do yoga.

Fruit juices are alkaline
by Magadi Raghunath on Jun 06, 2011 11:14 PM  | Hide replies

Wrong. Most fruit juices, All citrus, pineapple, mango, etc are acidic. Alkaline fruit juices that too with a pH of 8.5 are rare.Check your facts before tempting gullible people with some nice looking pics.

Your view is partially true... yes fruit juices that have an alkaline pH are good for people suffering from acidity at the same time foods that once digested "if create alkaline ash" and lemon juice (unless you are allergic) helps lower acidity levels.

Rediff never checks articles for accuracy.

Even political articles.

I dont know why they have a self-righteous attitude despite so many errors day in and day out.

It's the email and the gossip option in these messageboards that earns them money.

If only they actually did some real reporting and plain google-powered internet research!
