Pandit!!!
by rajendra tare on Jul 11, 2014 09:24 AM

India's most Prominent weakness is its utter failure in grooming its talent. Our education system is not as per the needs of the day. We need not only five IITs but FIFTY IITs. Prof. Pandit, come out of political thinking and think of India 20 years ahead. Closing eyes and assuming it is night is not the right wat of thinking at least form a professor and thinker. Else you fail to qualify as a professor and thinker.

IITs -IIMs - NPAs
by Sreegiriraju Satyanarayana on Oct 28, 2011 06:35 PM  | Hide replies

An educational institution irrespective of whether it is an IIT or IIM or Engineering college etc, should remain only an educational institution. Unfortunately they have become commercial organisations with the active involvement of Business Houses. They have become pleasure hunts with 5 star facilities rather than learning centres. There the learning is sold or traded. There is no difference betwwen RAce Cource staduim or Cricket Maidan or a Business School. They are not within the affordable rezch of ordinary student. Business houses corrupt the sincere faculty luring them with consultancy tempting them with all inducements. Business Houses have inroaded into adminkistration, politics, educational institutions and what not to make this country most unethical beyond any repair.

I agree to your statement. But I need to add little more to your above statement. The business houses were involved earlier also in this field like Tata's and Birla's but the damage was not to the scale what is experienced today. Because it was simple that there was no involvement of business houses or their bosses in the educational processes and decisions. But complete damage is observed when the active politicians converted this field as 1.profit centers 2.political power houses 3.non-ethical practices etc. These modern so-called educationists ruined the sacredness created by great Tilaks, Ranades, Karves etc. Most of them doneted their excess land money for the cause of education. But these white clad educationists grabbed land from government by creating, bending laws in their ways, by looting money from parents by way of donations, fees etc etc.
But if center government is serious about the above fact and try to take remedial step, it is welcomed as the importance of these so called modern educationists will slowly will be vanished.

Curriculum in B-Schools
by Ajit Jauhari on Sep 17, 2011 07:25 PM

My niece, a BE-IT, wanted to become a HR professional in IT industry & joined a reputed B-School. To our surprise, the first semester contained heavy dosage of Finance, preparation of Trial/Balance sheets. She brought up the matter with the faculty & was told that the initial semesters would have common curriculum for all streams, be it MBA-Finance, MBA-HR, MBA-Marketing etc. & would facilitate dual degrees for wider job scope!!!
Students with Commerce background, obviously are at doing Finance, Balance sheets etc, but, not BE-IT who is focused on doing MBA-HR only.

Confused
by Roy on Jun 09, 2011 11:26 AM

This is one confused person. He says branding is most important and then blames new bschools for focusing on branding. He says journal articles are worthless and then says bschool teachers should publish in journals. He says performance in bschool depends on past academic performance -- if so, then what is the role of the bschool in a student's development? The good students continue to do well and the bad ones continue to do poorly. That is his argument and he seems to be pretty happy with the situation.

The list is good but not 100 per cent correct.
by GP BABU on Jun 09, 2011 10:30 AM

Sir, Thank you for preparing 50 best Eng. Colleges. But the List is not comprehensive and had some glaring ommissions. FOR EXAMPLE HOW YOU MISSED THE COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING,Kakinada which set high standard of education, and its disciples have been working in top most levels in Govt. and Non Govt. organisations like BEL,BHEL, NTPC etc and its one of the pioneer and oldest institutes in India. Please check your ranking system again.

my exp. with IIT
by deepak on Jun 09, 2011 01:44 AM

it was summer of 2003 when i received result of my GATE exam. i got 98.32 percentile. i went to IIT roorke happily with my mom to take admission in the Mtech course. counselling started and i was so happy to be sure i m gonna get admission in an IIT. really a dream come true.

full day went by and the counselling kept rolling at a very low pace making all candidates wonder whats making it so slow.

then came the evening and they announced that the counselling has been stopped, go home......

can u even feel what all of us felt standing there? ppl. had come from all over india and were ready to sleep on roads in the night to start the counselling in morning but officers told that they will contact us if needed....

all of us argued a lot but they did not even take our names and we all left like loosers wondering what is happening..

someone in the crowd then told us and opened the secret.. the same day the counselling for MLNR allahbad was scheduled and some local influential students had gone there for counselling. they wanted them to take the admission at cost of us...

from that day I cant feel same for IITs even i want to.. i am not saying all students are bad.. most of them are really good. but few non deserving guys also get in..

Brilliant Interview - Thanks for sharing
by Onie on Jun 07, 2011 03:08 PM

I did not have a particularly high opinion about IMI before reading this but if this is the quality of its leadership, then there is a very bright future ahead. The man exudes clarity, rigour, honesty and breadth of thought. Great to read.

Studying in any of old 5 IITs is dream.
by SunilKumar De on Jun 07, 2011 09:58 AM  | Hide replies

It is fact that studying in any of old 5 IITs is dream which hardly get fulfilled for general catagory students. I know one ST boy who is studying Computer Sc & Eng in IIT KGP but his JEE score was jur 102 whereas for general catagory students, it is 300 . That is the reason why many peoples in this forum is against IITs. It is like "Grapes are sour" for them.

solution of this problem 50 % college should be for reserved candidate including faculty and rest for meritorious student you will see the difference moreover make 50 more iit iim for reserved students and distribute iit iin degree to them no question asked.keep balance college free from kachra atlaeast

CREATING INSTITUTES
by rajeev tiwari on Jun 07, 2011 04:49 AM

BEST SOLUTIONS FOR THE GOVT IS CREATION OF AN INSTITUTE WHICH MEANS MORE FUNDS AND MORE PEOPLE TO BE ADJUSTED WITH NO ROLE WHILE THE ACTUAL BENEFICIARIES ARE EXCLUDED AND ALL OF THOSE WHO ARE TO BE OBLIZED ARE TO SHARE THE FRUITS OF DEVELOPEMNT
