I wonder why ISM Dhanbad is not in the list. The admission is through IIT-JEE and the placement is at par with many IITs. Established in 1926, ISM Dhanbad caters to a wide diversity of disciplines, ranging from Earth Science to Computer Sc, Electronics, Mech and many more. This should be certainly in the top 10. IIT Mumbai and NIT Trichy not in the list is a big surprise. People publishing this poll must clarify about the ways they have selected to choose the colleges. This can be misleading to many aspiring students. My personal opinion about the college ranking: 1. IIT Kanpur 2. IIT Kharagpur 3. IIT Delhi 4. IIT Mumbai / IIT Chennai 5. IIT Roorkee / BITS Pilani 6. IIT Guwahati/IT BHU/ ISM Dhanbad 7. NIT Trichy / Surathkal 8. NIT Warangal / Delhi Technical Univeristy 9. College of Engg,Anna University/ BIT Mesra 10. IIIT Hyderabad / Allahabad/ NIT Allahabad My opinions goes bu brand value, intellectual property, academic excellence, personality dev, infrastructure and last but not the least placement.

Everyone Forgot about the best in India which is the backbone of Indian science and technology. abd that is "INDIAN INSTITUE OF SCIENCE BANGALORE"

I agree with you. But IISC Blr is famous for masters and phd. This is the list for undergraduate courses.

VJTI is definitely one of the leading institutions of India. With alumni like Avtar Saini and Dr. Anil Kakodkar, this is truly a hub for excellency. This should find a place in the top 20.

ISM, WHY not about IIT Mumbai. In any context IIT-B is better than the ISM.Just becouse admission is made through JEE that doesnt mean ISM is better. Other then Earth Science, the ISM needs to make the reputaion. And also, since the opening of the new IITs, the Quality of students who r taking Admission in the ISM is of very low ranking. Many of the Students who takes admission in the ISM bever know at the time of admission that what the Institue is an what the course. That is not the case with Other Engr Colleges. The Comp Sc/Electronic/Mech quality in terms of Teaching staff and Labs are very poor compared to other prestigious Colleges... Plz Correct!

Why UICT Mumbai is not seen anywhere.Founded way back in 1943 it is one of the best Chemical and Farmacy instiute.In us you will find udcts students holding high posts and competing with the best in indusry.And whatabout IIT Mumbai and VJTI Mumbai
It is the only university in India where admission is 100 percent based on merit and no quota of any kind.Even being a private university, there is no management quota and the tution fees is only mariginally higher (Rs 40000 per semester only)than IITs.Apart from a very high BITSAT score, students have to maintain minimum 80% marks in board exams which no university in India demands. Moreover, their latest campus at Hyderabad is a complete success with best faculties and the first batch rolling out in 2012 are likely to get very good placements .Pilani and Goa campuses are already established and doing extremely well in all fronts. Only problem with with Bits Pilani students are that majority of them go abroad to US for higher studies and settle there.
