It is true

Nowadays people live in small nuclear families and everybody has a busy lifestyle. There is a mad race to reach the top and earn money without the concern for one's own health & family. And that is why even small issues end up in depression.

Reason- Not far to seek

It doesn't surprise to see India being #1 in the scale of depression among its people. What with the amount of corruption that is endemic in every walk of life, ruled by criminals masquerading as politicians, lack of civic sense across the board and above all the exploding population are bound to affect event the sternest of people. If you understand the apathy a common man faces in India be it at the hands of the police, or at all Govt offices or at any public service centers such as hospitals, ration shops among million other places, you sure will classify India as the most depressed country in the world.

Industrial/economic Progress is not tempered w/ any creative solutions to all unique problems that India is faced with. A day when you do not experience the sight of morning squatters close to the train tracks shitting unmindful of the people around, sewage flowing through the streets, harassment at the hands of powerful and mighty, indifferent attitude to the garbage around you, giving/taking bribes among others, is the day to feel that Indians are out of depression.

Many Indians who live abroad don't want to visit India even as tourists -due to filth/dirt and utter lack of civility in public life and this goes without saying that a foreigner would never consider India as top of the chart tourist destination because of the dire images being projected in the world media about India.

Let's stop gloating about recent successes about India and start looking inwar

Not So Fast!!
by Girish K on Jul 27, 2011 08:40 PM

A Study was published on July 25th by Biomedical Journal that rates India way better than any country in Europe or North America. Only China and Japan are better than us. Most other high income countries have much higher rates of depression.

The reason why people get depressed in INDIA
by Vishnu Sharma on Jul 27, 2011 08:32 PM

Is because things do not get done in INDIA and everyday life is a struggle, thanks to the Marxist stranglehold over our democracy.

When India becomes a more efficient and clean nation filled with polite people, the incidence of depression will decrease drastically.

Many Indians also feel that their country is going downhill and there is very less to be proud about.

When you are not proud about something, then you feel depressed.

So we Indians need to give ourselves a leadership which will raise the cockade from the mud, instill our people with pride, discipline and neatness and put the entire NATION and the entire peoples on the road to a speedy recovery.

Only us NATIONAL DEMOCRATS have the answer to all of INDIA's problems.

89000 people interviewed from 18 countries..!
by Tom Dick on Jul 27, 2011 07:15 PM  | Hide replies

89K people from 18 countries (that is less than 5000 people on an average per country)and they have reached a conclusion that 36% of one and a quarter billion people are depressed ! How wonderful. Reminds me of the three statistic professors went on deer hunting. They found their target and the first one shot at the deer and the bullet missed went by the left side of the deer and the second professor's bullet missed again went by the right side of the deer and the third professor ran to the deer saying the deer should be dead if we take the average.

Not all people living in India are dipressed. Sonia, Rahul, their puppet MMS, useless Chidambaram, cheats Kapil Sibal, Digvijay Singh are some exceptions.
