Yoga works
by Remani Kumar on Jul 25, 2011 09:28 PM

I was a software engineer, diagnised for border line diabetic / high BP and hypo thyroid. When my Dr. prescribed a barrage of pills, I took a deep look at current sedenentary lifestyle and switched to a better lifestyle.

a) Started (Bikram) Yoga, 5 - 6 days a week, 90 minutes a day.
b) Cut down the eating portions
c) limited alchohol in take to no more than 2 pegs of Vodka OR two glasses of RedWine once OR twice a week.
d) Once a month do the body cleansing with Ayurveda
e) Eating outside was reduced to once OR twice in month.

In 6 months, my diabetis receded, no HBP and Thyroid receded. No more darn pills. My tryglyceroids / cholesterol went way too low, My Dr. advised its ok to eat fat stuff. But I remained it in moderation.

I have lost 8 KGs weight, my waist got trimmed.

Many Desi friends were surprised and when I tell them Bikram Yoga they tell, it is either expensive OR How we can do it at home.

My take is, It is your life, you CHOOSE whether to do it OR not, no need to give a reasoning on why one is unable to do something.

Some question / argue whether yoga works OR not, after showing my blood results some will accept that yoga works and some still give reasons why they are unable to do it.

Its your life, you decide.

If you get a chance, go to bikram yoga website and read in testimonial section how a westerner who practiced yoga for solong controlled his diabetis.

Unfortunately we look for non-indians to endorse our Yoga to believe.

Read before you go for test
by abhishek agarwal on Jul 25, 2011 07:58 PM  | Hide replies

I recently read an Apollo brochure about discounts on various tests - like blood, urine, heart etc. I was about to finalize when I read the fine print - it said in disclaimer that results of these tests should not be considered as final and if anyone suspects any disease, then he must get specific tests done for it!!!!
What nonsense? They are saying that they do not vouch for the discounted tests done by them, so one should not rely on them!!
Indian medical scenario is grim and the government must do something to rein in these psycopaths.

I wud advise all to read the fine print before going for such so-called 'routine tests'

Indiscriminate use of painkillers
by prakash bafna on Jul 25, 2011 07:45 PM  | Hide replies

In india doctors often prescribe heavy doses of painkillers & steroids indiscriminately, although this is due to our own expectations to get quick recovery doctors often do it..But one should be aware how harmful these painkillers & steroids could be..painkillers often affect kidneys & livers sometimes leading to renal failure, steroids weaken your immune system badly..our immune system plays a vital role in fighting diseases & keeping ourselves fit..So just avoid these 2 drugs as much as possible..strict NO NO...In short allopathic medicines be used in extreme conditions only..we are too used to popping a pill every now & then,if you stop this i m sure you will stay healthy for longer time..

Your father died due to his heart problem. No doctor gave it to him. And YOU chose the doctor. You had multiple choices. Perhaps you did not exercise the choices. Now you are trying to come to terms with the loss by blaming somebody else.

Doctor's ad
by nakkra on Jul 25, 2011 06:58 PM  | Hide replies

This is very similar to the scary ads from doctor groups to me..... Every reader of this will have one or more of these symptoms...

Live a natural life. LIve with nature... Practice meditation... Try Ayurveda our India's own medical system....

Do regular yoga and meditation.... Control your mind and body.. Many of these symptoms will go away.... A good life style is what you need.

Thank you.. many of us are impatient to cultivate your suggestions and tips.. most of us are greedy for a fast change.. they are impatient and we can refer them as immatured.. Yoga and meditation yield results only in course of time.. not within a day or two, our Indian people should understand this concept..
