Mutual funds

I had invested in few Popular MF some 7 years ago as per advice of a financial advisor and MF agent. I invested for long term.

Surprisingly the returns are lower than Bank FDs. I was told of long term appreciation so I continue holding but there is no desired appreciation and low dividends.
What people say is not at all correct. Best Is to invest in solid gold!!!

Dear Pai,

What are the funds you are holding?

Have you invested in SIP (OR) Lumpsum.

Returns depend on the above factors.

Regards

Pai - If your fund has under performed during the boom time (2004-2008) and bust time (2008-2009) then it is time to change your funds. Your Financial advisors may have been indiced by commissions, thats really they made you choose bad funds.

Go for a balanced fund to begin with. Park money in a ultra-likwid fund or MM fund and move money into your fund thru STPs. You will see good results in sometime (5 yrs), easily beating your old funds, MF and even gold.

Trust me, stocks/MF will build you the best wealth over time. There is no doubt about that statement.

Ditch your advisor and dont doubt the wealth creation statement above.
