Irrelevant work experience
by deepak deshpande on Jan 18, 2011 06:41 PM  | Hide replies

The so called work experience is a joke and indication of blind imitation of West.90 % of those with work experience opt for placements or get jobs which are totally unconnected with their experience. Thus person with experience of computer programming and software goes for Finance job. What use is that previous work experience ?But everybody in India - including writer of article and MBA ADMISSIONS SELECTORS have mortgaged their brains to west which they ape blindly.Lack of previous work experience has never been a hindrance to bright fresh MBAs who have always excelled in new jobs without any prior Experience

Sir, i am agreed with the second part but for the first part, what is wrong if someone after obtaining a mangement degree opt for a different industry for which he/she have never worked for, there may be several reasons behind this, like... the changed industry seems to be better prospect to him/her, new area of work is more interesting etc.

The writer decides Student Quality based on Gender , educational background and geographic spread.
He must be mad.
How can gender of student etc decide Student quality? The parameters mentioned denote Intellectual Bankruptacy of writer.

Probably they wanted to say "Student quality from school's perspective" (actually school's quality from different measurable criteria). For an example, in a particular school, ratio of students for boys and gals are 70:30, obviously we will call another school better if that school is maintaining a ratio of 60:40 vis a vis the first school. School should ensure the quality of its students through appropriate selection processes, at the same time it also should strive to bring together in its programmes a well-balanced student body representing a diversity of backgrounds and nationalities, which in another way can help to grow the students in the changed scenario. These are effective when you are talking about school's quality and you are measuring the same through some defined criteria.

How can they quote EQUIS accreditation along with local stuffs likeNAAC,NBA,etc.AMBA is fine but not too fine.Further regarding faculty. Not a single IIM or IIT has a single faculty of international standing. If at all any there, they are local creations.Only ISB,Hyderabad, can be a B-School of global standing.
Ask IIT-Kharaghpur.How many academically outstanding or commercially viable research have they produced with their 100 percent Ph.d faculty!

Looks like this survey is not well researched
by somnath mahapatra on Jan 18, 2011 02:41 PM

Example: IIM A and IIM B are the only institutes in India which got EQUIS accreditation. EQUIS is one of two globally recognized accreditations for B-schools. But there is no mention of it here
