It is rather surprising to see the vehemence and the bitterness flowing against online shopping. I have shopped in many online shops including ebay and rediff among others and my experience has been good except once when an iphone i ordered got inordinately delayed. Even recently I bought an OlivePad and the missing memory card they were supposed to send along the package came within a short period...and no I never tried ITBC!!!
I too have got cheated by India Today book club.after that i learnt my lesson & buy online books online and that too on cash on delivery.I've pleasant experience with Infibeam,Flipkart, rediffshopping & Myntra.the only lesson i learnt is never pay in advance & never buy anyhting online other than Books & T-shirts!

I agree with you, the online transactions are good only for few things. India Today Book club are big cheaters, even I had very bad experience with them.I'd opted for books and CD's and money got debited from my card but I never got it.

Send this link to owner and president of India Today Book Club. They would be proud of their management for making good money.
Dishonest Politicians make people/mainly business people Dishonest Best thing is to Buy only what you see, touch and feel, pay by only using credit cards-even small amount, you could charge back in case of problem, use these features of credit cards to advantage

Yes, Online shopping is useless because of these unethical practices, this sort of callousness on part of online store is very prevalent in India
Don't fall into the hands of offers / discount sale / last item sale and particularly online stores and offers by magazines. Buyer beware is the tag line. No use in blaming the seller as they are ready with excuses. Touch, Feel, know the product and buy to avoid unnecessary disappoinments.

correct... esp dont buy second hand cars... wait for some months and buy new one instead...
Its as if this India Today Book club has been started with just one motto-Cheat the people..! Luckily I escaped as their methods of promotion itself looked bit shady to me. A friend of mine got cheated when he ordered for Wodehouse books and DVDs. Their useual trick is to say book is out of stock and claim 'refund' which u never get. Seriously, this ITB is to be banned and the owner jailed. But then such things never happen in India and these goons kep looting the gullible public. Wonder who owns this - Prabhu Chawla..or he is only an editor for India Today..??
rediff shopping is biggest cheat....i had to fight with them for 13 days to get my delivery.......and that too was damaged. they donyt bother to call u up or opologise.......see mouthsghut or india complaints site for rediff complaints
We have, as a nation, have created a reputation of being the capital of dishonest people!. Scams worth crores and crores. Bribery from few rupees to crores. Nepotism in all levels. Politics controlled by families. Unethical practices at places where ordinary Indians hope to get justice. Adulterated food. Adulterated medicines. Cheating shop kepers. Hoarders of food items. ..You name it and we have it.
The India Today group is a bundle of dacoits. They lure customers like me with seemingly good offers and then leave us in the dark. I had paid Rs 399.00 for a set of Encyclopedia Britannica CDs way back in 2009 but have not received the same. A wonderful reply saying 'we are working on your complaint' follows everytime I contact them, but a concrete action remains elusive. It is high time this group should be banned from such marketing channels.

This is a rejoinder to what I stated earlier. My order value was Rs 574.00 and not Rs 399. The order # was M-COMMERCE/0GA090070192 and my membership # is ITBC0998826. I wish somebody from their company is listening!

To my surprise all the so called on line shopping portals are fake. Here I would like to exemp Rediff Shopping as my shopping experience with this portal has always been pleasant & my worst nightmare remains with India Times Shopping till date who don't even bother to acknowledge your complaint E mails.

it happened with me too! i ordered a set of books for nearly 500 or so after many weeks when i enquired about it they simply told me it was out of stock and i should claim a refund. first they should have told me about it on their own because they have failed to service a order for which they have taken advance payment.instead the idiots told me to mail them with a copy of credit card payment. that time luckily they had a toll free number and i used to call them after every couple of days. i still fear the tortourous waiting music i had to hear for minutes while the stupid customer care people took several minutes and came up with trash excuses. after some dozens of calls or so i receives my cheque. i have learnt one thing, avoid buying online in which you have to prepay and even then buy only things like books,cd's. never electronics or anything above 1000 rupees. and yes one vote more in favour that India Today book club is a big cheat!!!

For the reliance store case: ask that person to show you eggs, shake his hand, make him drop and break it and tell the customer service how bad their man is proving to be...that loss will be recorded.
For the dresser case, just go back and break an equivalent amount of stuff, or steal it. Why run from pillar to post ? Want to play it more sensible: stick posters everywhere advertising the "CHEAT" dresser, notably around his shop.

That's the way you teach a lesson to this kind of fraud. On a weekend, go stand infront of the shop with a board indicating how cheap this Business owner is. Your issue will be taken care imme.

For any loss you incur for your online transactions, write your story in all the online forums to teach them a lesson
