Has this convener lost his mind
by Parikshat on Jan 07, 2011 03:36 PM

An IIM convener says "it is unethical for the students to try to see the result".
How could this guy even make it as convener.
Simply put Its a failure on part of the site to maintain integrity of the result and nothing else.
Just admit it and move on ,rather than giving ludicrous reasons.

There
nonsense
by There on Jan 07, 2011 03:32 PM

This is absolute nonsense. What the students have done is nothing unreasonable. Prof Himanshu Rai should rather focus on investigating the lapses and rectifying them. Mess-ups happening two years in a row is completely unacceptable. And then shifting the blame to somebody else is not the kind of attitude CAT should display.

The least that we expect is an apology and an assurance that this will not be repeated. CAT Convenor should set an example in leadership

Prof Rai
by bellarynaga on Jan 07, 2011 03:26 PM

has lost his marbles..if the results were indeed out earlier by mistake, then he should be investigating how that happened rather than blaming the students..

""This has shown them in a bad light as people. They are certainly not the kind of people IIMs would like to have in their institutes and definitely not the kind of leaders we are looking forward to make in the future"...

Shifting the blame on others seems to be a trait these business schools want...
On the other hand, it was some test being conducted on the system with dummy data, how come that was being done in a live environment..that too is a issue...

True Voice
whose mistake
by True Voice on Jan 07, 2011 03:21 PM

Whose mistake it is? Those who eager to know or those who failed to protect it. Even last year IIMs goofed up with online as the server was hanging and not able to handle all applicants together. They didnt perform a trial run before conducting it.
BTW who are all these socalled future leaders from IIMs. Either they leave the country to do slavary for uncle sam or join uncle sam's con groups like pepsi or coke here

Dont blame students
by a r on Jan 07, 2011 03:18 PM

Prof. Himanshu Rai seems to be a cry baby. He couldnot control the leakage of results onto public domain and balming others. It is your responsibility to secure the systems and results, you have failed to do it. As a premier exam, students will be curious to know when the results will come out and check the website repetedly. I don't see anything unethical in this. Stop blaming students and take up the reponsibility for the failure.

blaming others is a good way to hide your discrepancies.. this doesn't sound unethical at all.. students did no harm.. and neither took any advantage out of it.. its just that when you know result is out.. you can't wait to see it
