Plese note that you can open PPF account with any NATIONALISED BANK ALONG WITH SOME PRIVATE SECTER BANK SUCH AS AXIS .HDFC

no court can attach PPF amount... even if gov. declare as pauper court cannot attach PPF money...

Try to deposit full amount (i.e. 70,000 per year) at least for initial 3/4 years of opening the account. This will help you in getting maximum loan / withdrawal in case you need any. Also it will help you to get good returns because of compounding nature of interest.

It seems the writer is still in old records as the minimum deposit (atleast one deposit) in a year is Rs.1000.00 but not Rs.500.00

It is INR 500.00. The author is correct. Pls check with SBI
