Very well written expereince, Rucha. The minute observations are indeed revealing, when you noticed how art is weaven into the fabric of society. To quote :"The mundane was constantly recreated as something extraordinary and distinguished. Stories were carved into walls, ideals sewn into saris, legacies painted onto glass windows". This is a nice interpretation.
The arrogance in some that seem too eager to spew hateful comments in a hope to shore their self esteem should not deter the nice work done. Welcome to India and hope it remains a land of reflection to its visitors.

exactly, i'm getting tired of rediff publishing these essays by these overseas indians... they act as if they've done something great by coming here and living the life their parents or grand parents did for most of their lives...
