Discussing work at lunch
by Shekar Rao on Feb 17, 2011 03:28 PM  | Hide replies

'discussing work while at lunch is not a bad idea.'

I entirely disagree with this point. I'd rather enjoy my food and take my mind off work for some time, instead of still yakking about it between trying to chew my food and thinking at 100mph in my mind. Too many people use this as a pretext to show others how hard-working(or hardly working) they are, or just to impress others with the new buzzword they learnt that day.

In India, in the name of socializing they ask nonsense at the time of Lunch or during any break. So i would prefer, when ones lunch, better dont talk at all.

Some things at work:

1. It is always better to discuss work, than discuss personal things at work.

2. Malayalis will always form a group, and exclude others from it. They wont even have lunch with others.

It is better not to discuss official work at lunch, dinner or party. Just restrict it to office. Not any other place.

as per the article scenario 2,Siddesh please be confident and have in mind that you are just speaking to another fellow human being. so dont be afraid to share your thoughts.

Generally CEO's are down to earth people, who will be interested to listen to open thoughts. Dont flaunt and search for words to impress . Be natural and use simple English that he will understand.
