..'My partner is very possessive and doesn't like my friends of the opposite sex'...

re Love Guru,

Can there be platonic relationship between friends of opposite sex? maybe, not definite no...

One can have acquaintances from opposite sex, it could be from your social circle, collegues etc and a partner shouldnt mind about such things.

However friendship is enitrely a different ball game than acquaintance, disapprove your advise on this aspect.

Many a happy, good relationships have broken down due to friendships with opposite sex with no trespassing on either side.

Better to prevent, than indulge and repent.

Hi, happy for you, may your friendship last long...

Well, this may sound a bit extreme, have you wondered why toilets are segregated by sex? even in many of the most liberal societies toilets are segregated, though you may find a few unisex toilets nowadays. It is not due to toilet functionality, it is due to the biological functions.

I am sure you would be embarrassed to accompany your friend to the gents toilet. Similarly there are many other aspects where you keep a safe distance from your male friend...

Biologically men and women are not same, basic instincts do get aroused in certain situations. Many a good people both from men and women, avoid such situations, not that they do not have control over themselves, but they do not want to dishonor themselves. It is not they are scared of society, buth they are courageous and value their personal honor a lot.

I do not believe there is true platonic relationships between opposite sexes in all situations. Its just a matter of time both mutually agree to take it a step ahead than friendship or friendship is split due to a wrong move from one. Moreover platonic relationships may the harm family bonds, then why the risk. For everyone's benefit, a safe distance needs to be maintianed among friends.

can you be more specific? On which matter is the advice wishy washy? Note that LG doesn't claim to be a social crusader. He is providing a service at no cost and goes out of his way to balance all aspects of an issue.
