The first thing i have ever learnt about work is

Smart work and conserve energy

Remember nothing is worth you

F the company at every oppportunity and act like you are most sincere

take 10 breaks but do it smartly

leave if these are not possible

lastly plan to leave sh** jobs asap

the world is indeed survival of fittest so be a shark or be swallowed

remember to walk always socialise always.

Last but not least blame yourself if your job is screen staring 8 hours this way you will get out of it soonish

Also remember obesity is the only disease where you are killing yourself out of choice

Looking ugly never helped anyone.

Idiots

Now-a-days, our youngsters are adopting only bad things from westerners believing that it is high living. Like western junk food, loose moral values etc. Pizza and soft drinks like Coke are such a waste and harmful food for our health.

One of the good thing about westerners is their working habits. They mostly work 9 to 5, very professional and sincere at work. Our guys surely aren;t professional enough. They rarely start their work @ 9, take tea/coffee break twice or thrice a day, take an hour lunch break etc. All this will result in their staying late at work to finish off assigned tasks. Thereby disturbing their entire meals schedule besides being with their family and kids. Just think about it where will it lead to? Very poor behavior and work habits.

Ever tried running a company, pushing the team to achieve time bound goals, be productive every second @work and still have the energy to go again the next day for years and years on?
That is professionalism , tough work ethics and fire to make most of any limited time we have in life. We Indians are tuned to do that on a regular basis, and you being one do not realize that, pitiful. We ofcourse are not that vain to take a holiday to tend to their gardens or go for a cycle trip in Alps, well that is easy and probably good, but do not downsize the efforts of people like us who have the ambition to see India as a talent pool of hard working, creative, smart, independent and responsible citizens.

Did everything you mentioned and continue to do so from 1995. But still work 9 to 5, take regular vacation ... the secret is establishing process and respect for policies. Our Indians need to work hard because they do not follow process or methodology. Don't brag with self titles like kadada jawab... it is a pathetic response.

Social pressure

If somebody make a choice for a healthy ,relaxed lifestyle and cuts down his material goals then he will b labeled unprofessional ,sissy, looser etc.
people work over time to make money and end up spending it at the hospital.

the corporate employers and health care companies will be the winners at the end of the day.
a false sense of professionalism has been injected to our youth by some very unethical corporates.

And to buttress their make believe world of 'professional glory', these corporates keep referring to the works of ill-understood or misunderstood authors such as Stephen Covey !!

and drop buzz words from philip kotlers marketing manual or words picked up from yesterdays wall street journal. Essentially the core pillar of western corporate management is establishing processes and procedures, methodology to accomplish projects. In India we look for short cuts or borrow stuff from west without understanding its native impact.

what you said is 200% correct. I spent about 25K INR to join a 1 year fitness program at a Gym and heard friends asking, why I "WASTED" so much money of this.

ROFL.....Don't know which way is this world heading towards?
