India on CV
by bryan joseph on Jan 11, 2012 09:54 AM

There are many foreigners who believe that having an India experience on their CV adds to their resume. They can stand out in the crowd back home. Life is indeed difficult in India. The transport, the rented home, dealing with utility providers- Municipality, phone company, gas company. It is so difficult for them, everyone charges a bomb for very basic things.
Also, work culture in some firms are not conducive to learn. Its a nightmare when they get sick or have to go to a hospital.
Basic living is indeed a struggle which we dont realise living in India. But having lived abroad, one does clearly see the difference.

However, life is good for the more Sr. Goras- who come at good positions in companies. Then they live King Size. Can never dream such a life back home. But for those who are young, India can bite and bite very hard!

We can be winners if only...

if only we keep our roads clean and pot hole free, if only our trains are on time and clean, if only our government emplopyees behave themselves and not ask for bakshees, if only we have clean drinking water available on the tap....some of the basic things are not available and no point in claiming that we are great and we have a very old culture etc. We need to improve on many fronts. Better infrastructures required. Better housing required. Honest politicians willing to serve the people required. If we can make improvements on all these field, we can say that we have reached a higher level of living standard.

Just 10 years back no one in India can think in dreams also that most powerful country in the world USA will come to third world country India for creating jobs in USA.
India has reached this leave in short time Just 10 years back no one even talks about China and India. Only USA, UK and Europe were King. But time cycle changed so fast that today everyone even in developed countries all are taking about India and China success.

Once upon time guests were treated as Gods in India, but now everyone seems to be ready to ripp them off.

Right from rickshawwala, rental brokers to shopkeepers are ready to charge exhorbitant rates once they see a foreigner.

There are plenty of job opportunities and growth in India, but social life and security is bad.

Following are the few remarks/observations from international students who were in India for 6months on exchange program-

1. Indians are racist- if you are black they will treat you like untouchables, but if you are white, blue eyes and blond,Indians will kiss your feet (true)

2. Beware of Indian Autowalas and Cabbies, even for Rs12 ride they will try charge you Rs50.

3. If there is no price tag on item, then bargain to death with the shopkeeper. Because for Rs10, they will be asking Rs 100.

4. Many Indians are not aware of their own country- they lack knowledge of history, geography and cultural information about their own country.

5. Indians think that if a girl is independent then she must be easy. Internationals students are more prone to harassment by men in India.

List goes on.
