The europens who landed in the city when it was a small village back in 1600, took great interest to develop its natural harbour. Then mumbai became a hub from where 80% of trade with europe took place. The textile industry was the THAT DAYS EQUIVALENT OF IT and software, a job spinner. Later on during early twentieth century mumbai was already a gold mine that attracted people from all over India, with south indians becoming a majority in vadala, dombivili, mathunga etc and north indians in the rest. Unfortunately after 1960s the regional parties of maharashtra sought more rights to locals at the exoense of outsiders.
True Mumbai dwells only in Bhendi Bazaar, Mohammedali Road, Musafirkhana, Behram Baug, Yusuf Colony, Masjids etc according to kangress. Rediff has created a biggest blunder.
