Inflation & Medicare
by rathi on Apr 07, 2011 12:37 PM

As the author of this article has pointed out, Inflation and health care expenses after retirement are going to be the biggest challenge for all of us. We need to have a well defined action plan for that. Nice and thought provoking article. Expecting more quality articles like this in the future.

Simple but moe authentic
by swaminathan on Apr 06, 2011 12:39 PM

I like this article. This one is so simple at the same time very authentic. I like the worst case scenario planning. That is thinking that you will live long and reire early.

We think a lot about our retirement. But we dont do a plan. This article becomes guideline to start the retirement plan.

My special thanks to rediff team for this article.

HOLLOW ADVICE
by pradip bhattacharya on Apr 06, 2011 10:05 AM

concrete suggession what, where and when one should invest is lacking. It is more like guiding a patient the importance to go a doctor, in this case professional financial consultant.

live happily now
by bhurso on Apr 05, 2011 06:07 PM

If you live happily now it becomes a cronic dicese and you will live happily after your retirement also. If you start thinking of future only then your present is also gone. It does not mean you become spendthift now. If you think too much of the future you will have a fear now and this fear will ruin your present and future.

There is nothing called financial planning
by RAJ on Apr 05, 2011 04:13 PM  | Hide replies

I am 46 year old and I have taken help of many planners from HSBC, ICICI , HDFC and even few private fund managers. I have just been loosing money thru all the routes in my life.
Being an IIT and MBA , I may be knowing more than these idiots yet I never had luck to make more thru any of the the avaialble instruments ,stocks or even mutual funds. Yet I am a hardworker and kept on establishing myself in job and climbed to a a formidable 8 figures salary. Realised now that these jokers are actually also earning thru us and giving non sense advice is their profession. None of them has any live example of a guy who planned and invested thru them and made a corpus and now leading a happy retired life. Guys ,we all get the wisdom over years and need a great luck to achieve what we dream ,rest is all FALTU. Best of Luck , Jai Hind

Invest 1 lac in ONGC, 1 lac in power grid and 1 lac in Coal India for 10 yrs. You dont need a financial planner. Always remember, markets are not casinos, they test your patience and reward your conviction.

I think advices are important for investment. But one point people miss to tell is when to invest in MF and stocks. Probably this may be the reason.

Well said. Take care of your health thru proper diet and exercise. Dont think too much on retirements and medical expenses. And tell your children that you are not going to overspend on their education or general expenses. They should get their rewards thru self trials and hardworks. This approach always works well. I have experimented
