Colored cricker

My most distinct memory of 1992 was the cricket world cup won by pakistan. And the most amazing part was that it was the first world cup to be played in colored clothing and we were watching live matches from australia for the first time. Satellite television, colored cricket and commercialization was just warming up to become HUGE!

Coz the world cup came back to Asia after India's World Cup triumph in 1983. 26th march 1992 (the day after Pak won the World Cup) was declared a holiday in India. Those were the times when we used to be happy in each other's achievements. Which is one more thing that has changed since 1992. Sad

India in 1992
by naveen chandra on Sep 30, 2010 10:34 PM

There were no trashy news channels and trashy programs like "Emotional balatkaar" etc.
There was no mms. no secret cameras.
There was no Mallika Sherawat.
Sonia Gandhi was not there in politics.
Prince (Rahul Gandhi) wasn't either.
But there was a Prime Minister then, who can act on his own intelligence and judgement and who was not a dummy.

History is boring subject => Now interesting to read
by Ayyappan Ramasamy on Sep 30, 2010 07:01 PM

Communal riots in my hometown nearby 1990's. It was boring to read History books/article. Never thought, that i would be traveling to densely located Europian countries. I was struggling to map Germany & its nearby countries, as they are dense & small. Now it is interesting to read history on Wikipedia. Speaking with all Indians through Rediff message board. Now-a-days, Get criticized sometime & appreciated sometime for my comments.

Yep, life has changed
by Sanchit Sabhlok on Sep 30, 2010 06:27 PM  | Hide replies

People knew about each other and what was happening around them. They read newspapers instead of facebook status, played cricket on street instead of FIFA on pc, used to cycle with friends instead of playing ps2 in parlours, take a morning walk in a park instead of exercise in gym. Air was cleaner, water was pure, trees were greener and all were sure. In this modern world where everyone wants to go faster than the other, we have forgotten that life is a journey meant to be cherished and not a race to finish. People back then used to live their lives, indeed a lot has changed!

Some engineers completed working on a machine. I watched them working for long. After finish they started the machine. I was leaning to see the result of hard labour by engineers for long at a distant place. Some thing struck in my right eye, and could not be treated. Later it came to be a steel dust, which was removed from deep inside of cornea with bandages for days thereafter.

Mr.Publisher,
Please don't fool the public. If you interview a 18 years guy, natural he cannot say anything what exactly happend in 20 years before. It is better, if you interview a 5-months baby and ask what happened in 1947. He too cannot say about independence in 1947.

Today's India is not just with 18-years guys. It is 100% all age-groups.

keep your articles within your limits

buddy ur mom and dad existed before they were married ...now if i go by your logic u should not know who ur dad , grand dad ... is as u never exixted during their time ...so please remove your initials before your name....and if somebody asks you what your dad's name do remember to tell them that i never exixted at that time so i cannot tell that...
