my earlier post was in response to messgs that said a UK degree in UK is not worth it. Agree with the article that a lot of fraud institutes are around claiming to offer gd progs which are anything but. Thats true bt all aspiring Indians who can affor it wd still want to study abroad!

Get real - gd foreign degrees are still d best
by Deepa B on Sep 24, 2010 06:38 PM

There is no comparison bet good foreign univ degrees & faltu indian ones of which there are dime a dozen. Yale, Oxford, Cambridge are still woth they are becos they r run professionaly & their Boards & profs r accountable NOT CORRUPT like Indian educationl institutes. For those who hv done gd progs abroad, they know how it helps u think different. No point going ra-rah abt Indian education - its in a mess becos of protectionism & corruption. Look wot Lee Kuan Yew did to S'pore. Does anyone know that India cdve also done tat had it nt been for stupid Nehru. Get real, people.

Strenghten the Indian Instituions
by palanki narayana on Sep 24, 2010 06:27 PM

The Government of India has abdicated its responsibility of strengthening our higher educational institutes, thus paving the way for foreign shops of doubtful provenance.Having studied/taught in national level institutes for the last five decades,I find that our colleges are decaying very fast.Shortage of faculty, lack of laboratories and libraries, uninspired teachers and uninterested students, lack of professionalism in professional courses are a few causes.Local politicians have reduced national institutes to personal fiefdoms.
However, not every thing is lost.By implementing sixth pay commission recommendations (not increase in pay and perks alone, but insisting on commensurate performance) the situation can be retrieved. We will not need the "Gora" schools then.

Good point...
by jaggu on Sep 24, 2010 05:53 PM

The foreign degree in India is worth as much as a duplicate ferrari racing T shirt worn by banana seller in Sabji Mandi.

No one knows the reputation of college , degree or the syllabus ...
